5 Things We Love About Deadpool’s Blind Al

To say that Marvel Comics and the characters that it has created over the years is experiencing a resurgence would be a massively gross understatement. There can be no denying that Marvel Comics is making its presence felt in the world of entertainment – and not only in the area of film and television. The launch of Marvel Legacy will reintroduce old heroes to new fans via the conduit through which they were originally introduced – comic books. One comic saga that is building u steam on the movie screen is Deadpool, and one character that has many fans intrigued is Blind Al.

So who is Blind Al and why is her character garnering so much attention? We decided to share five things we love about this character.

1. The Mystery Behind Her Character

There is nothing that can hold the interest of a person more than the need to solve a mystery. As humans, we simply do not like not knowing something – it literally drives us insane. Because there is so much that is unknown about this character, the ambiguity is actually appealing and alluring. While there are clues dropped along the way, none of them seem to truly illuminate who this woman is and why she is playing such an integral role in this storyline, but yet, here she is.

2. MI-6 British Intelligence

Anything that seems to be linked to MI-6 or any other British intelligence organization has a natural allure to it. The character of James Bond has all but guaranteed that there will be an eternal appeal as far as British intelligence is concerned. The fact that Blind Al is somehow linked to the Black ops organization gives her character validity and credibility. It qualifies her as a worthy adversary or ally, depending on what side you are standing on at the time.

3. She Is Blind And Can Still Hold Her Own

There is something about a person who is stricken with what most of the world considers to be a handicap and yet they somehow find a way to thrive in a world that is not built for them. Whether hero or villain, a person who has the power to overcome a major setback like blindness to not only thrive but become a dominant force in their world demands a certain level of respect, and Blind Al falls into that category.

4. She is Complicated

One thing about the ongoing and complex relationship between Blind Al and Deadpool is that she, herself, is a very complicated person. The oscillates between being a prisoner, housekeeper, friend and even mother-figure for Deadpool, who was supposed to have killed her years before when he was an agent. Deadpool has even been close to sadistic in his treatment of Blind Al, and yet the relationship remains intact.

5. The Connection to Captain America

It is nothing short of Amazing how Marvel is able to draw almost seamless parallels between their characters. Blind Al gives a medal that she said she got from an American soldier she had an affair with during the second World War. During a fight to save the world, he drops the medal and Captain America picks it up and recognizes it as a medal he had given to Althea (Blind Al) decades earlier in a different life. It is subtle nuances like this that literally draws you to Blind Al.
