As television has heated up for the summer run, there are a number of shows that are getting a lot of attention, whether preparing to be a part of a hot summer or having just completed a hot season. One show that is consistently in the conversation surrounding the funniest comedy series currently on television is The Mindy Project. With the show having hit the 100-episode mark, it is obvious that the show has appeal and longevity. One of the reasons why is the fact that all of its characters are given life by talented actresses and actors.
One actress that has placed her stamp on the show is Fortune Feimster. Here are five things that you probably didn’t not know about the actress.
1. She Was Not Slotted as a Regular on the Show
I guess with some people, when the opportunity presents itself, you seize it at all costs. According to the show’s producers, the character of Collette, who is played by Fortune, was not set to be a regular on the show. She was supposed to be there for about three episodes, but the character made such an impact that she is not only a regular on the show but she is also a fan favorite. This goes to show what happens when talent and hard work come together.
2. She Is Breaking Out in the Industry
Being the perfect opportunist that she is, Fortune is wasting no time parlaying the energy and momentum that her role in The Mindy Project has created for her. She has landed what she considers to be her breakout role in a new series for Hulu called Life in Pieces, but she is not stopping with this new role. She is also scheduled to have a part in a new film produced by Jennifer Aniston called Office Christmas Party.
3. She has Paid Her Dues
When it comes to comedians, they don’t necessarily come up through the ranks by attending highly prestigious visual arts institutions like Julliard, but they still have to pay their dues. Some are forced to move through a long laundry list of dark comedy venues, while others have a breakout opportunity. With Fortune, it was appearances on Last Comic Standing that brought her significant notoriety as a comedian.
4. She Wrote and Performed for Chelsea Lately
It is likely that most fans will not remember the comedian appearing in Chelsea Lately, but she did perform on the show. Not only did she have a role in the show, but she also contributed to the show’s success through her writing. The fact that Fortune is a remarkable writer tends to allude many, but not those to whom it really matters – network and film executives. One thing that is almost a given at this time and that is Fortune Feimster is becoming a force to reckon with.
5. She Love the Freedom Provided by The Show
Although some actors and comedians can be contractually restricted in what they can do outside of their current television series gigs, Fortune says that the producers of The Mindy Project are very good about allowing the actors and actresses on the show to appear in other work once a season has been wrapped up. I would imagine that they would probably not be too supportive of Fortune appearing on shows that are competing in the same time slot, but other than that, she has plenty of freedom to roam.
