10 Things You Didn’t Know about “The Fix”

If you had no idea what The Fix was all about then you might have thought that it was something entirely different than what it is. The show is another in a long line of law procedural programs that details the hard losses and dubious wins that go on in the American legal system and shows the travesty of justice that can let a killer walk free. So far it would seem that the first episode was received fairly well despite the fact that it’s got some people thinking and some people looking as though they might have seen this kind of thing before. The writer, who was a big part of the OJ Simpson case, has been adamant about the fact that it’s fiction, but you’d have to watch the show or perhaps just watch the trailer to really decide for yourself just how closely she stuck to the reality she lived at one point.

Here are a few things you might not know about the show.

10. The show has come out to mixed ratings so far.

There might be a few reasons for this but it’s likely that just a couple of them are really why anyone’s been talking about it at all. As of now it’s not a hated show but it’s not exactly something that critics and would-be fans are raving about either. Maybe by the second episode it will gain some ground.

9. Some critics call it a self-serving rewrite of history.

If you take a look at the trailer then you’ll see why they say this and why they might be partially right. Sometimes it can really sting for prosecutors who think they have an open and shut case to find out that the court of public opinion and the lack of any proper evidence can in fact be a huge detriment no matter if they think they have the case won or not.

8. There is a feminist lean to it, but it’s not as strong as you might think.

You could say this about any movie or show these days if you really thought about it but there is something of a feminist ideal within the movie that puts a strong woman in the lead and makes it necessary to highlight her role as the main character. But so far it seems like it will work since it does present itself as a very enticing show.

7. Both the male and the female characters are quite varied in their roles.

It would seem that there are strong men and women alike in this show and devious men and women as well. The spectrum of male and female characters so far, from looking at it, seems pretty even so if there is a lean either way it tends to get balanced so as to keep things on an even keel and not misrepresent either male or female.

6. It’s a revenge story from a legal standpoint.

You could call it a fantasy revenge story since that’s what it really amounts to since the writer is the one that had to live through something similar and has no doubt thought about what it would have been like if she could go back and do it again.

5. The writer made a point to say that this isn’t about the OJ Simpson case.

This is very easy to affirm since it is not about OJ Simpson, as there’s already been a show on that famed trial and it was fairly well-received and seemed to reignite the old feelings that people had for the trail for just a short time. It didn’t seem to last quite as long, thankfully, as the actual trial when it came to the feelings, but it was definitely a reminder. That being said, The Fix is something new.

4. There are a lot of parallels between the OJ case and this show.

It’s pretty easy to see the parallels of this show and the OJ Simpson trial since the trial featured a black former athlete and the show features a black actor, both of whom were put on trial for killing their significant other. Unlike the OJ trial however, this show is fixated on the defendant a second time for the same type of crime.

3. It just started as of March 18th.

So in terms of being a new show this is BRAND new and has a lot yet to show the public. So far it seems that it’s off to a good start and should hopefully be able to live up to the hype.

2. The cast lineup is impressive.

The cast does feature a few people that you just don’t see that often anymore.

1. It’s actually been considered humorous to some people.

It’s kind of odd to say this about any crime drama, but there does seem to be a moment or two in which some people have found time to chuckle.

It does look like a decent show.
