10 Things You Didn’t Know about “Heart Beats Loud”

Who doesn’t like Nick Offerman at this point? His new film Hearts Beat Loud is about a father who is also a widower trying to save his failing record store. When he records a song with his daughter and becomes a hit on Spotify however something begins to happen that he didn’t foresee and could possibly help him out with his business. The only issue is that his daughter is caught in the struggle of staying home and helping her dad or leaving the nest in order to seek out an education and a life of her own. It’s the kind of film that makes you feel good but still understand that as much as parents and kids rely on each other they tend to need to go their own way eventually.

That’s about as coming of age as it gets at times, but we don’t always seem to discuss such things.

10. It premiered at Sundance Film Festival.

If people have good things to say about a film at Sundance then chances are it could be something special. It won’t always be a blockbuster but it could be a touching film that people want to see.

9. It will be in select theaters this coming June.

It won’t be everywhere but if a person is lucky enough they should be able to go and see it.

8. Nick Offerman and Ted Danson have worked together before.

They worked together on FX’s second season of Fargo so they’re not strangers to each other.

7. Jeff Tweedy has a cameo in the movie.

Tweedy is a singer and guitarist in the band named Wilco.

6. This movie is kind of a goodbye to the 90’s era in a way.

You can see this through Frank’s realization that he neighborhood he lives in isn’t the same as it used to be. It’s also seen in how customers react to his gruff manner and his shop.

5. The main character’s mother is a shoplifter.

There are a few conflicts in the movie that are familiar to some people and at least believable in how they’re presented.

4. It features moments that remind us just how online business is affecting smaller stores.

When a customer orders what they want off of Amazon and then goes so far as to show Frank the digital receipt this proves that Amazon and other such sites are in fact easier but also able of killing off smaller shops as has already been done in the past.

3. The family in the film has a legacy of musical talent.

Frank’s deceased wife was a singer, as was his mother apparently and his daughter Sam has inherited the talent as well. He’s not as talented but he knows she has something special.

2. Clemons does her own singing in some of the pieces.

It makes sense considering that she is a singer as well as an actress.

1. Frank is the kind of dad that wants his kid to shine but wants to be there for it as well.

He’s the dad that wants to be cool but also wants to make certain that his daughter is able to do her thing, so long as it has to do with music.

This might be a good film to go watch on a date night.
