Just like how we, as guys, would love to be able to slip into the shoes of James Bond or Han Solo every time we watch Casino Royale or Star Wars, we also sometimes find ourselves fantasizing that our favorite female characters were real. These are the fictional women who feel so real that they make us fall madly in love with them the more time with spend with them, whether that’s watching them every week on our televisions or seeing them on the big screen on a Friday night. Here are 10 fictional women that every guy wishes he could date.
Sarah Walker–Chuck
Full disclaimer: Sarah Walker is my favorite fictional character on this list (Chuck is one of my all-time favorite TV shows). She’s everything a guy would want in a girlfriend: intelligent, strong, and beautiful. The best part of Chuck is watching Sarah slowly let her guard down and show her vulnerability, as she is able to finally free herself of the strict, rigidness of the CIA through her relationship with Chuck. However, even though she allows herself to embrace her sweeter and softer side, Sarah always remains fiercely independent and is one of the few spies in the world that could actually go toe-to-toe with Jack Bauer.
Danielle–The Girl Next Door
The easy answer for why Danielle should be on this list is that she’s played by Elisha Cuthbert, thus making her insanely hot. Yet that isn’t why she’s on here. Sure, Danielle is stunning and sexy, but the real reason why guys would want to date her is because she challenges the people in her life. In The Girl Next Door, she continually pushes Matt out of his comfort zone, telling him to “just go with it,” and it’s those simple words, and the magnetic look in her eyes, that help Matt gain the confidence and self-worth that he always had but could never tap into. What guy wouldn’t want that type of girl in his life?
Hermione Granger–Harry Potter
The only understandable hesitation for any guy when it comes to dating Hermione Granger is that they’d be afraid that they wouldn’t be able keep a conversation going because of her amazing intelligence. Hermione’s brains may be her defining characteristic, but she’s also incredibly loyal, consistently brave, and extremely kind. Not only could she help you with studying or with work for your job, but she’d also be there to console you after a bad day or to stand up for you if you were being mistreated. There’s a reason she’s a Gryffindor and not simply a Ravenclaw–Hermione’s the total package.
Cece Parekh–New Girl
Cece taps into a very primal part of every guy–the part of them that would always say “yes” to dating a model. Cece’s model looks aren’t her only strong quality, though. She’s also very clever, compassionate, and determined. She’s the type of the girl that knows what she wants and will do whatever she has to do to go out and get it, illustrating a sense of assuredness that more girls should try to embrace. Plus, Cece started bartending during this season of New Girl, so chances are that she could probably make you a pretty great cocktail as an added bonus.
Topanga Lawrence–Boy Meets World
While Danielle may be from The Girl Next Door, Topanga is the true epitome of that phrase. Beautiful, wholesome, and always thoughtful and considerate, she complimented Cory’s neurotic behavior and romanticized ideals perfectly during Boy Meets World‘s seven year run and made every guy watching ABC’s TGIF fall instantly in love with her while doing it.
Elizabeth Swann–Pirates of the Caribbean
In the original (and best) Pirates of the Caribbean film, Elizabeth Swan starts off as the typical “damsel in distress” before discovering her own inner strength and fortitude. During the next two films in the Pirates trilogy, Elizabeth only gains more independence and power, as she rises to the highest of ranks among pirates and is instrumental in saving the lives of her friends and family. Her development over the three Pirates movies (despite how much of a mixed bag the last two films were) was not only satisfying to watch as a viewer but also makes her character, who was already the most gorgeous woman sailing the seas, even more entrancing.
Katniss Everdeen–The Hunger Games
As someone who has read two and a half of the three books in The Hunger Games series, I’ve begun to grow a little weary of Katniss’s constant indecision between Peeta and Gale. Who does she love more? Who will she choose? And while this love triangle is still very present in The Hunger Games film franchise, it takes a backseat to Katniss’s battle against the Capital, which showcases not only her superior archery skills but also her compassion for others and the resilience she possesses in even the direst of circumstances. Even though she might be a little too busy leading a revolution to go to dinner and a movie on Friday night, it’s Katniss strength of spirit, her willingness to do whatever she can for the people and things that she loves, that makes her the type of girl any guy would wait around for. Not to mention, she’s played by Jennifer Lawrence, which is honestly all anyone should need to know to date her.
Summer Roberts–The O.C.
To this day, The O.C. is still my favorite television show of all time, and one of the many aspects that made it so great over the course of its rocky four season run was Rachel Bilson’s Summer Roberts. Summer starts the show off as just the stereotypical, “bimbo best friend” character to Mischa Barton’s Marissa, but when The O.C. writers discovered how talented Bilson was in the role, they gave Summer the opportunity to show off the different sides of her character, from her sarcastic sense of humor to her hilarious “rage blackouts” to her huge heart. Seth Cohen was one lucky guy to end up with her.
Elle Woods–Legally Blonde
Okay, stay with me here. I know that Legally Blonde is a chick flick, and I’m not denying that. However, as a guy who has seen that movie, which I’m sure 99% of you have, you can’t tell me that you wouldn’t want to date Elle. She’s not just a drop dead, gorgeous, blonde bombshell (perfectly played by Reese Witherspoon), but she also always looks for the best in people, even when they can’t see it themselves, a quality that I wish more people would possess. And if you really need further evidence, she graduated at the top of her class from Harvard Law and could totally bail you out of any legal situation you ever found yourself in.
Tami Taylor–Friday Night Lights
Tami Taylor (also affectionately called “Mrs. Coach”) is the prime example of what a wife should be: independent, supportive, caring, and kind. Connie Britton was absolutely fantastic in her portrayal of Tami throughout Friday Night Light‘s five seasons, as she and Kyle Chandler’s Eric gave audiences the most authentic television marriage to ever hit the airwaves. Although Friday Night Lights boasted some of the most gorgeous women on TV during its run, Tami was always more than just a pretty face–she felt real and genuine and alive. She had every guy who was watching falling for her from the first “Y’all!” she uttered.
