It might not seem possible to find a whole lot of quotes from Scarface that aren’t laced with profanity, but if you really watch the movie and don’t skimp around to the most violent and confrontational parts you’ll find them pretty easily. Despite the prolific use of profanity in the movie there are moments when it’s toned down just enough that you can get a sense of the story and what’s really going on. Sure it’s about a murderous criminal on the rise in the cocaine business, but it’s also about someone that decided to stop being pushed around and treated like a nobody in a world that didn’t care about him.
He’s not a role model by any means, but he certainly didn’t bow down to anyone.
10. You wanna play rough? Okay, I play with you.
Tony Montana was about as tough a guy as you could imagine, especially given that he wasn’t a big guy or particularly strong when it came down to it. He was ambitious though.
9. Sure, Mel. Maybe you can hand yourself one of them first-class tickets to the Resurrection.
Tony didn’t care for middle men and he didn’t bother making his disdain for the law a secret. He wanted it all and if someone got in his way without his say so then they wouldn’t be there for long.
8. I kill a communist for fun, but for a green card, I gonna carve him up real nice.
So long as he was given what he wanted or needed Tony would do just about anything.
7. Lesson number two: Don’t get high on your own supply.
Elvira was kind of a tragic story since she wanted the good life but had a lousy sense of just who to stick with in order to get it.
6. Every day above ground is a good day.
Mel was the kind of guy you tend to like seeing get it in the movies since he’s kind of jerk and he’s not really a likable character.
5. All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don’t break them for no one.
Say what you want about Tony, but he did have some sense of principles. Unfortunately principles and ethics in the drug game don’t seem to go all that far or garner much appreciation.
4. Me, I want what’s coming to me.
Tony had his sights set on the world before he ever got halfway to where he wanted to be, that’s how ambitious he was.
3. I always tell tell the truth, even when i lie.
That says a lot about the character even if it sounds contradictory. The point of it is that Tony would tell it how it is even if he had to tell it in a way that wasn’t entirely truthful.
2. Say hello to my little friend!
The little friend has quite the roar on it, as the guys that had to suffer the blowback could attest to.
1. Every dog has his day.
Tony had his day, and it came and went on the same tide of blood that he created to get it going.
This is arguably one of Al Pacino’s best roles, ever.
