Stefon Makes Triumphant Return to “Saturday Night Live” and of Course Laughs

Fans might have been waiting for it but can now see that Stefon has returned in a triumphant fashion to Saturday Night Live, and of course a healthy amount of laughter. That’s to be expected though from a character that’s so off the wall and undeniably odd. Bill Hader has made a great reputation for making people bust up laughing and has created characters throughout his career that people absolutely love. Stefon though really takes the cake since he tends to recommend places for tourists to go that are perhaps some of the most messed-up sounding locations you’ve never heard of and for good reason.

That’s the whole draw of the character though since he’s an awkward human being that says really random and awkward things. One thing is clear though, getting through a skit is no easier at this point in SNL than it’s been throughout the last several generations. It’s funny really to watch the comedians just about bust up laughing as they’re trying to perform their act. It shows that their sense of humor is on par with their audience since they can’t help but laugh occasionally as well. It’s not supposed to happen during a skit since the actors are supposed to remain composed but when something strikes you funny it’s really hard to stop yourself from busting up. Hader did pretty good but he looked like was about to lose it a few times.

SNL has certainly changed throughout the years. The kind of comedy that’s brought onto the show now is great and extremely funny but it’s also very different since back in the day some of the things they say and do now would have been considered outright scandalous. Of course the same can be said of the show back then too. If things were the same way they were in the early days there would likely be a lot of problems. The show has evolved a great deal since the days of Belushi, Murray, Chase, Curtin, and many, many others. The humor has never gone away but the comedy and the settings have changed immensely. Things don’t seem to be the same in many ways but the comedy is something that just doesn’t fade and that’s great to see. Stefon is actually no weirder than any other character but like all of them he’s got his quirks and that’s what makes him popular as well as special.

Throughout it’s history SNL has definitely played host to a lot of different ideas and interesting story arcs that have entertained and made people cry from laughing so hard and possibly even pee themselves at times. But characters like Stefon have always amazed people too since they’re often taken in part from people that the the comedians have known or met at some points in their lives. The inspiration behind the characters is something that’s kind of funny to realize since you tend to start thinking about who could have been this awkward that a comedian decided, “hm, that looks like an interesting act.”?
