Last night the USA women’s gymnastics team competed in the team all-around competition and took home the gold, but Aly Raisman’s floor routine is stealing the show and becoming the talk of the town. The 22 year old gold medalist whose teammates call her, “grandma,” helped carry the USA women’s team with a near perfect routine that earned her a score of 15.366.
The announcers were blown away with Raisman and what she accomplished with one announcer even saying, “that was the best routine I’ve seen Aly Raisman do.” As soon as she completed the floor competition last night, her routine began to blow up and go viral almost instantly. The six second clip of her opening move was retweeted over 18,000 times and things have only been escalating from there.
Aly Raisman chimed in on the buzz around her routine afterwards discussing how she has been training for moments like this since the age of 14 and it wasn’t learned overnight. Olympic athletes dedicated their lives for moments like this and she earned hers through blood, sweat and tears. It all comes down to repetition and dedication, which paid off for Raisman last night.
The USA women’s gymnastics team has been hugely hyped up for the Rio games this year and so far they are delivering with this gold in the team competition. The women’s gymnastics individual all-around competition begins on Thursday where Aly Raisman will be competing for another chance at gold. Hopefully these amazing girls can continue to add to the United States success in Rio and bring home more gold medals!
