Duncan Lacroix is an English actor who is best known for spending his time in Ireland. Currently, his most famous role might be Murtagh Fraser on Outlander, a character who serves as Jamie Fraser’s closest companion. Primeval managed to win a fair amount of popularity over the course of its run, though it is interesting to note that a Canadian spin-off did not fare as well as its predecessor.

Furthermore, Lacroix had a role in Vikings, though it was no more than a short one. His character was called Ealdorman Werferth, who was an official of some note serving in Wessex. For those who are curious, an Ealdorman is indeed supposed to be an “elder man,” which was the rather prosaic name of a royal official in Anglo-Saxon England. Said rank was high indeed, as shown by the fact that it was rendered as dux and comes at various times, which where the predecessors to dukes and counts.

Lacrois’s passion for acting is real, so much so that he has been known to call it an addiction. To be exact, he loves the feel in the room when he manages to pull off a successful performance, which is more than enough to overcome the fact that he has not always been successful as an actor. In fact, it is interesting to note that Lacroix decided to move to Ireland for the purpose of pursuing his dream of becoming an actor because he had feared that it was slipping out of his hands when he was still an office worker at the age of 30.
