When Younger premiered several years ago on TV Land, it was, not surprisingly, a breakout hit. Since that time, its fan base has only grown. With people like Hilary Duff and Sutton Foster starring in the show, it is easy to understand why it has so much appeal for audiences. Season four premiered just last night and it lays the groundwork for a very interesting season, indeed.
Below are five impressions that you might be able to take away from what happened on the season premiere last night. One thing is certain, the writers of this show definitely know how to get your attention and then hold it.
1. Kelsey moves out
If you remember from last season, Kelsey, played by Hilary Duff, was staying with Liza, played by Sutton Foster. The end of last season saw Liza telling Kelsey that she has been lying to her all along about her age. Last night’s premiere saw Kelsey moving out, but it wasn’t in an explosive fashion. Instead, she waited until Liza was asleep and then snuck out of the apartment so she wouldn’t have to confront her.
2. Kelsey stopped Liza from telling the truth that work
Now that Liza has started telling people that she really is 40 instead of 26, it seemed that she was ready to tell everyone during a board meeting at work. Considering that the publishing company she is associated with bases its entire reputation on being run by millennials, this would obviously not be a good thing since Liza is a key player. Kelsey is able to see this and interrupts Liza, effectively stopping her from telling everyone what is really going on.
3. However, Kelsey isn’t so quick to forgive
Some people might take the fact that Kelsey basically stopped Liza from putting both feet in her mouth as a sign that the friendship was ready to be patched up between these two. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth as far as Kelsey is concerned. When the two finally have words, she explains to Liza that she only did what she did in order to save the company from having to deal with the fallout and that she will never choose to forgive Liza for lying to her.
4. Emily is still trying to blackmail Liza
Of course, Emily still hasn’t gone away and she is still trying to blackmail Liza. In order to get more money for the company, Kelsey actually comes up with the idea that they should publish a book that Emily has been trying to get them to look at in exchange for her silence about Liza’s real age. This promises to provide some great plot lines as the show goes on this season
5. Kelsey ends up at Josh’s place
Liza has been involved with both Josh and Charles for quite some time but things do get messy at the end of the season four premiere. When Liza starts looking for Kelsey, wondering where she is staying since she left her apartment, she uses a feature on Kelsey’s phone to discover that she is, in fact, at Josh’s place. Maybe it’s nothing, but the implications are there and it promises to ratchet the tension between the two up even further.
