In January 2017, NBC announced that the hit sitcom “Will and Grace” was being resurrected. What about the series finale where a fast-forward scene shows their kids all grown-up and marrying each other? If the new series version included Will and Grace married with children, it wouldn’t really be Will and Grace, would it? And, therefore it wouldn’t be all that funny either. So, all of that is explained away as part of a bad dream that Karen had.
Original Premier in 1998
Will and Grace first premiered on September 21, 1998, on NBC. It followed the crazy life of a straight girl living with a gay guy. They clearly love each other but not in that way, you know. The stars of the show back then are the same today and include Debra Messing playing Grace Adler, Eric McCormack playing Will Truman, Megan Mullally playing Karen Walker, and Sean Hayes playing Jack McFarland.
They’re Back!
So, more than ten years after the eighth season of the hit show came to a close, they’re all back. Will, Grace, Karen, and Jack are really not much different than they were a decade ago. Will is still a gay attorney, Grace is still an interior decorator, Jack is still Jack, and crazy Karen is still Grace’s drunken personal assistant. This season’s premiere shows that nobody has changed even a little bit, although Will and Grace have both been married and divorced. It was funny from start to finish and we’re glad they’re back. So, here are the top five moments from the new Will and Grace season premiere:
The Games People Play
The show opens with Will, Grace, Jack, and Karen playing a spirited game of Heads-Up, which of course, Will and Grace are pretty good at. There are quite a few funny moments in the fast-paced game but at the expense of a few famous folks like Kaitlyn Jenner and Newt Gingrich.
President Cheeto
Grace has been called to the White House to do a reno on the Oval and Will is there chasing after a hot Congressman that he’s interested in. Grace tells Karen that she’s trying to match the curtains with the President’s coloring and whips out a bag of Cheetos, holds one up to the drapery swatch and proclaims it to be perfect.
The Pillow Fight in the Oval Office
After both Will and Grace end up in the Oval at the same time, a hilarious pillow fight ensues with feathers flying everywhere.
Grace is Staying
A touching scene between Will and Grace begins with Will walking into his apartment and seeing Grace’s bags packed and ready to go. She’s moving out but they have a nice moment where he asks her to stay permanently and, of course, she accepts and everything seems to be again just as it was ten years ago. Oh, and by the way, her suitcase is empty because she already knew how it would go.
Grace Trumps Trump
In the end, the four are all together again in the apartment just like the good old days and Grace admits that she did make one little change in the Oval Office even though she, of course, lost the redecorating job. The last shot is of a very Trumpish red baseball cap and, as the camera zooms in on it, we see that instead of “Make America Great Again”, it says “Make America Gay Again.”
So, needless to say, fans are all looking forward to the next 11 episodes in this 12 episode series. We just can’t wait to see what fine fix these fast friends will get into next!
