Will There Ever Be A Crossover Episode With Rick and Morty and Bojack Horseman?

It’s an unholy string of cuss words, burps, and sarcastic comments but every fan wants it to happen. So–will it? For now, the sheer thought of having Rick Sanchez, the resident snarky alcoholic of Rick and Morty, cross paths with the like-minded horse who can’t be loved, Bojack Horseman, is pretty tantalizing, but many fear this will never happen and, if it does, that it won’t be as magical as we hope for it to be. The biggest fear is that, like many other crossovers, the amount of creative influence from both sides will eventually clash and showcase itself pretty blatantly in the episode. This will then leave both characters as only shells of who they actually are on their show for the sake of combining them in a crossover.

However, despite the doubt that is surfacing, the evidence is pretty clear that a crossover episode not only deserves to happen but would be nothing less than magic in the process. Let’s face it; everyone loves a likeable screw-up, and these two have the cartoon charisma and undertones to really make for a beautiful episode together. Any true fan has probably cried their eyes out for both shows, and it makes sense. After all, these cartoons are some of the saddest yet most hilarious pieces of creative content out there currently, and it’s no surprise that both shows have been continuously accredited for their brilliant scripts and spot-on casting as well.

However, another major fear within the crossover episode is simply that chaos meeting chaos could lead to some pretty bad events. To hold true to both characters, the likelihood of them doing some terrible stuff together is pretty valid and, in turn, this could transform a light-hearted crossover into a very dark and depressing episode in the blink of an eye.

For instance, perhaps Bojack would be able to finally look at himself through the actions of the extremely similar Rick, and vice versa, leading to some massive regret and facing their drinking problems once and for all. On top of this, we all know for a fact that both characters are pretty avid and terrible drunk drivers (or drunk fliers) so the likelihood of an accident is yet again far up there.

In turn, maybe Rick could be stuck in a Hollywood jail alongside Bojack as they determine whether they will be facing the implications of a DUI or DWI, and what that will mean for Portal Gun-less Rick and friendless Bojack. These are the biggest fears that face this pretty on-point connection between the shows, but don’t lose hope yet.

Due to the fact that most people really want this to happen, plenty of fans have actually done the dirty work for the writers just to ensure they steer clear of these issues in a crossover episode. In turn, the plot has been created and it’s seriously good. In the crossover episode, Rick would talk about visiting a planet known for its drug called ‘Bojack’ that is full of anthropomorphic animals. From there, he would talk about meeting the guy the drug was named after and having a pretty awesome party with him but giving him a little too much K-Lax and needing Beth to perform a stomach pump on him immediately (how perfect is this?).

As Beth performs her surgery, multiple characters could interact with one another including Jerry spending the day with Mr. Peanut Butter, Todd hanging out with Morty, Summer chilling with Princess Carolyn, and possibly some sarcastic banter between Diane and Rick. In the end, Bojack would recover, Rick would start another party, and Mr. Peanut Butter would ask his iconic line, “wait, is this a crossover episode?” as Rick demands the credits to roll and Bojack vomits cotton candy everywhere.

In the end, with a storyline like this and a perfect match-up of characters as well, how could you honestly not be counting the days until these two awesome shows finally collide? You can’t. You just can’t. So grab a calendar, listen carefully for the rumors, and start making your honorary crossover gear so you can celebrate the day in style when it finally comes.
