Why Little Women: Atlanta Season 5 May Be Its Best Yet

Fans of the incredibly popular Little Women: Atlanta were worried the show wouldn’t come back at one point but luckily that’s not the case. While the new season is bringing back most of the familiar faces, but there’s a lot more going on than just another season this year. The show is going through some changes and refocussing its energy on the careers and music the women all love. In many ways, it’s going back to where it all started and some old familiar faces are coming back to Atlanta.

In The Beginning

Reality TV doesn’t recap as neatly as other shows because the characters are real people. So for anyone who’s missed all four previous seasons of the action let’s roll back the clock and see if we can’t clarify a few things. Way back in season one we knew almost nothing about the ladies. The very first episode showed the way and premiered what was in store better than anyone could have predicted.

Getting Cheeky

Emily Fernandez (Right Cheek) & Bri Barlup (Left Cheek) who met at a Little People of America event and have been inseparable friends ever since began as roommates when they moved to Atlanta. Their personal history goes back before the show of course, and they lived in Texas (This is important or it wouldn’t be mentioned). These BFFs are performing dynamos and they host at nightclubs. While they are always quick to point out they are entertainers and not strippers, they do however dance. Specifically, they twerk. As you might have guessed this brings in a nice crowd and keeps them moving and involved, buying lots of drinks. It’s a great job if you can get it and keep it. The Cheeks get paid to go out and have fun. Once upon a time way back in Texas the Cheeks, or rather Emily, met a couple of other sexy little gals and Emily may have offered to help teach them the business, or you might say she offered to pimp/manage their career in the business. These ladies said no.

Twinning

Enter the Tiny Twins. Andrea & Amanda Salina. They apparently thought the idea of being hostesses and twerking for a living was great, it was just Emily they didn’t want. Naturally, there’s some bad blood there. However, most people don’t follow their bad blood out to Atlanta and take their jobs away. To be fair, with her attitude, it’s not hard to see how Emily rubbed them wrong, but it’s a little shady to take someone else’s business even if you are a dynamic, sexy, matching outfit wearing set of twerking twins with great attitudes and exceptional attributes.

Juicy Drama

The very first episode of Little Women Atlanta features everyone at a twerking contest. The lady who is holding the contest, Ms. Juicy, is a local radio personality from The Rickey Smiley Morning Show and an old friend of Tonya, from Little Women: LA. The Cheeks, the Tiny Twins and some other unfortunate ladies who can’t come close to the spotlight under the circumstances, face off and the Twins win.

Also Starring

Though they don’t quite steal the show in the first episode the way radio stars and epic twerk battles do, you should not underestimate these next ladies. Ashley “Minnie” Ross aka Mamma Bear is a hair stylist. If you have never met a hairstylist outside of work then you may not realize how much they know. Something about making people look good and having scissors near their heads makes folks want to talk.

Tiffany “Monie” Cashette is Minnie’s best friend and one of her best clients. She gets brought along seemingly for the ride, but don’t worry about all that, she gets her time in the sun, and plenty of it, as the series progresses. Sam, the shy cosmetologist brings her own brand of understated beauty to the show. She’s known for her kind heart, but also for a sharp tongue. Though she wasn’t in the first episode with all the club and twerking based insanity, she is a welcome and well-liked addition to the show.

Rivalries and Renewal

The past is important here because without it the next season isn’t as significant. Old rivalries will be rekindled. Minnie’s health scare means she may have her mother move in, and that’s bound to create its own tensions. Everyone loves Sam, and her story is just getting started. Ms. Juicy… is Ms. Juicy, and she will doubtless continue to build her management company as well as bring her sense of fun and spirit to every episode. Monie and Tanya won’t be returning. There are battles coming. Some will be battles of will, others will be words. This season seems likely to feature at least a couple of dance battles between the twerkers and a rap battle has been mentioned. Will there be physical fights too? Only time will tell. The most important thing is that they are bringing it all back around to where it started and then ramping it up a few levels.

Final Thoughts

Season five may have just started, but there’s a whole lot of surprises in store from these little women. The cast shakeups mean the story is about to get more intense. Fans are going to get their dose of dramatic highs and lows to be sure. Whatever happens to these ladies, you can be certain it will be worth watching.
