Why Doctor Who Season 11 May Very Well Be Its Best

Doctor Who is an extremely popular British television series that has aired in many different parts of the world and has been running for 55 years now. Obviously, it’s changed a great deal over the years and the most recent season represents one of the biggest changes in the show’s entire history. For the first time ever, the Doctor is a woman. Played by Jodie Whittaker, the 13th Doctor is sure to take the adventures that were never before possible, not to mention providing a fresh take on the show which, according to some, had started to feel a little stale.

As a matter of fact, many people who are die-hard fans of the show have been waiting for this for a long time. They’re also looking forward to additional seasons of this dynamic show. In fact, a deal was even put in place a number of years ago that was designed to ensure that the show would run through at least 2020, guaranteeing its survival not only this season, but for two more. This agreement will serve as a minimum, with the option to continue on long after that. Even though a lot of changes have occurred recently, fans are still excited and rightfully so.

There have been a number of changes, to be sure. The first was the departure of Steven Moffat. He had been deeply involved with the show for a number of years and up until the 2018 season, he was the show runner. Fans initially didn’t like the idea that he was being replaced but his successor, Chris Chibnall, has so far done an excellent job. As a result, fans have already grown to love his work.

In addition, the new Doctor represents a major cast change. As a matter of fact, there are several fans that have been over the moon about the idea of having a woman to play the 13th Doctor. As you might have guessed, many people felt like this was something that was long overdue, something that should have happened years ago. Truth be told, one of the biggest reasons for casting a woman as the 13th Doctor is because that’s how the script was written. This is not a show where the cast was set and then the script was created, but instead someone was sought out to fulfill the completed script, in much the same way that actors read a script before they do a movie.

There are so many storylines that can potentially take place now, all because the writers and producers had the forethought to do something different. The current season of Doctor Who had fans excited a long time before the first episode even aired. People that had never had much interest in watching the show before were suddenly finding themselves engrossed in one episode after another. This was not just another new season of an already successful television show. It was a brand new experience for those connected with the series and those watching it at home. Bold changes were made for this season and they clearly paid off. That is obviously not always the case, but when those changes are done the right way, remarkable things can happen.

This is a show that is bringing in hordes of brand new fans because of its ability to stay relevant in a world that is always changing. In addition, you have the endearing character of the 13th Doctor, who is only equaled by Jodie Whittaker, who plays the character. There is just something about her that makes you want to watch the show, even if you never have before. That fact, coupled with some excellent writing and great stories, is enough to make this the best season the show has ever experienced in its remarkable 55-year history. That’s just not something that can be said about most television shows, but in this case, it is absolutely true.

Of course, you’re more than welcome to draw your own conclusions. You might think that you’re looking at the one of the best shows you have ever seen or you could think that it’s just not for you. In the end, that’s for you to decide.
