So far Mindhunter has been the kind of show that a lot of people have latched onto since it delves into a subject that a lot of people are wanting to know more about but find disturbing and unusual at the same time. That’s not hard to understand since the mind of a killer is bound to be a disturbing and somewhat cluttered space that requires a good deal of study and a very thick skin so as not to be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of evil that’s to be found. In Mindhunter season 3 though it would seem that people are going to be expecting a lot of the same if not a bit more in order to really kick things up a notch or three. Hannah Shaw-Williams of ScreenRant has a few things to say about the upcoming season and no doubt many would and have echoed the same sentiments since the show has become something of a popular spectacle that enough people are willing to wait for.
To start with it’s been assumed that Mindhunter will be approved for a season 3, but it hasn’t happened quite yet. Given how much critical acclaim the show has already gained it’s nothing to worry over since Netflix isn’t about to dump one of the shows that’s been seen to be one of its more successful titles, especially after learning the streaming wars are just heating up thanks to the fact that other companies are starting to get in on it, and Disney, the ultimate powerhouse of today, is going to be launching their own streaming site in a couple of months and eventually taking away a big chunk of material that Netflix has been featuring for a while. Mindhunter season 3 will be approved, there’s no doubt of that, but so far it would seem that Netflix likes to wait just long enough for the sake of prudence in order to make certain that things are lined up the way they need to be in order to dot the i’s and cross the t’s.
The proposed release date might startle a few people since it’s not likely that we’ll be seeing this show return until around 2021, which could send some fans into mild shock since it seems as though this is something untoward that could end up losing the show a few supporters. That being said though the desire for the script to be just perfect is a big reason why this might happen since if people are being honest they want this show to be as accurate as possible. When dealing with reality in such a big way the people that watch these shows are often so technical-minded that they might, and have, bothered to take to the internet seeking to learn the truth behind the science of it all and whether or not what they’re watching could actually happen the way it did. Those that are sticklers for realism in their TV shows and movies are typically those that end up shredding the myths and lack of research that go into some productions, but it’s not too surprising that some producers and directors take this to heart since they want to give the best representation possible and impress the fans at the same time.
As far as the story line goes right now it’s likely that we’ll be seeing more about the BTK case that’s been prevalent throughout the first and second seasons and has occupied a great number of people since it is one of the more notorious cases in history. That being said the BTK killer wasn’t apprehended until 2005 so it’s highly likely that we’ll see this case pop up again, though what other cases we’ll see is hard to say since production hasn’t even started and, as you might expect, people are likely going to be pretty mum about the story line when it does come out since leaks being what they are, no one wants to ruin the entire thing for those that are waiting diligently for the show to come back.
All in all Mindhunter will likely be back and will continue to tackle some of the heaviest and most diabolical cases ever to come across the attention of the American public. Being able to understand how the mind of a killer works is something that might seem like a trip straight into the worst nightmare imaginable, but surprisingly not every disturbed individual is possessed of a chaotic and abnormal mind. Some people that have committed such heinous acts are those that seem completely normal and are therefore more difficult to spot, even if they happen to enjoy the kind of torture and degradation of others that would paint them as monsters. Just expect the next season to be as disturbing as the first two and you’ll have an idea of what’s coming.
