Despite taking a break a few times Diane Franklin is still very active in show business and has been working steadily as of late as she has a couple of movies that are set to come out in 2020 titled High Holiday and Waking Nightmare. While there aren’t any real concrete details about either movie it’s enough to see that she’s been keeping her career on track even though she took a break from 1991 to 1999 and then from 2000 to 2006. It would seem a good part of her career has been bound up in short films, TV movies, and various TV shows where she appeared for one or two episodes now and again. Of course one of the most popular roles she ever played was Monique in Better Off Dead as she was supposed to be the love interest of Ricky, but instead took an interest in Lane as was intended. The movie is one of those that stands as a memorable dark comedy that was supposed to be much more depressing but ended up becoming one of the many movies that came out of the 80s and became a cult classic for one reason or another.
Diane has also been a part of the Amityville Horror movies as she’s starred in Amityville II: The Possession, and the more recent production of The Amityville Murders, which seems to be trying to explain why Ronnie DeFeo Jr. committed the acts he did back in 1974. One has to imagine that acting in a movie that has something, anything to do with this story is bound to be upsetting since the story of Amityville is one that has haunted a lot of people since the murders and has become something of a sensation in the horror movie genre that has risen and died down over the years. In all honesty though it did help Diane to make a name for herself since the movie was one of her first projects and became a fast track to a career that has spanned for decades and in some ways might be said to have come full circle when she was cast in The Amityville Murders. Thankfully she’s kept moving onward as the years continue and is still considered an active actress, thereby furthering her career and making certain that she’s moving forward. In a lot of ways the breaks she took years ago seem as though they might have been the right move no matter what prompted her break from the business.
It might surprise some people to learn that her estimated net worth is around $9 million, but obviously she’s done what she could to make sure that she’ll be able to keep living the good life as so many others have. What might be even more interesting to learn is just how she’s stayed so far under the radar and amassed so much in her lifetime, but really it’s easy enough to guess since she’s been active for so long, since the age of 10 actually as she started off modeling, that she’s likely learned how to play the overall game in show business and has been an astute student. Just in case you don’t remember though, she was also one of the princesses in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, so it’s likely that she’s been able to bank off of this and her role in Better Off Dead for some time when it comes to getting jobs and staying popular. Among the many stars that use old roles to keep themselves relevant, which doesn’t really seem to be the case here, she’d be one of those that people might actually be willing to give their attention to. After all, those that acted in our favorite movies from back in the day usually are credited with shaping our young lives in some way and are typically deemed worthy of some lasting respect.
While it’s a little difficult to think that she’s not being brought back to take up her role as one of the princesses in Bill and Ted Face the Music, it’s also a matter of whether or not she really wanted the role. Fans have to remember that the role she played back in the day wasn’t exactly extensive as the princesses were more or less a small part of the story and didn’t really get featured all that much in the sequel either. Diane has enough going on in her career at this point that missing out on this opportunity shouldn’t be seen as much of a big deal however since she has kept herself busy and as a result it’s likely that she wouldn’t have been able to schedule the time. That being said, if you are a fan of Diane it might behoove you to take a look at what she’s doing now since she’s not quite ready to slow down yet.
