Sydney Thomas, the ring girl who went viral during the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul boxing match, gave fans an unexpected Halloween surprise.
The 22-year-old model shared a series of pictures in a revealing Manchester City-inspired outfit, but one detail in her post quickly caught everyone’s attention.
While some followers loved her playful costume, others were left genuinely startled by what appeared in the later slides.
One fan admitted, “Fourth pic threw me for a loop.”
A viral ring girl from Mike Tyson fight horrified fans with her Halloween costume
Thomas shared her Halloween costume in an Instagram carousel on Wednesday, October 29. She chose to dress up as a playful, glamorous version of Norwegian football star Erling Haaland.
The model wore a sky-blue crop top inspired by Manchester City’s home kit, paired with tiny matching shorts and knee-high socks. She also carried a sparkling football-shaped handbag to complete the look.
However, the real surprise came in the later slides of her post.
Thomas included an AI-generated image and a video in which Haaland’s face appeared on her body. The edited pictures featured the footballer’s signature blonde hair, from before he recently changed his hairstyle.
She even tagged Haaland in the post, making the unexpected costume reveal even more amusing.
While the first pictures showed Thomas posing in her football-inspired outfit, the face swap caught several followers off guard.
One person commented, “Fourth pic threw me for a loop,” while another wrote, “Picture 4 is terrifying,” and others flooded the comments with crying-laughing emojis.
The reaction was similar on other social media platforms, where fans joked about being completely unprepared for the Haaland reveal.
One follower said, “These are beautiful. That is until I hit the fourth slide and then again in the last one. Terrifying.”
Another commented, “Slide four got me.”
Not everyone was frightened, though. One fan called it their favorite Halloween costume, writing, “This was my favorite costume ever to exist.”
Thomas’s costume came after she became an internet sensation during Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s fight
Thomas first gained widespread fame during the highly publicized boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul on November 15, 2024.
The fight took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and streamed on Netflix. Paul defeated the former heavyweight champion by unanimous decision after eight rounds.
However, the match was not the only thing that caught viewers’ attention. Thomas, who worked as a ring girl for Most Valuable Promotions, suddenly found herself at the center of online conversations.
She later revealed that she had gained around 500,000 followers across her social media accounts after the fight.
At the time, she shared her surprise at the sudden attention, writing on Snapchat, “This is just so crazy to me.”
During a question-and-answer session with fans, Thomas explained that social media helped her land the opportunity.
“I was found through social media!” she said. “I did my first fight in Puerto Rico a month ago, and Paul x Tyson was my second time in the ring!”
She also shared what she enjoyed most about the experience.
“Being in the ring with Mike Tyson for sure,” Thomas wrote. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He’s such a legend.”
“People are always waving, blowing kisses, etc.; it’s fun to engage with!!” she said.
Thomas’s sudden popularity opened several doors for her career
After the boxing event, she secured brand deals and interviews and eventually signed with Creative Artists Agency for representation. She also celebrated reaching one million followers on TikTok.
Her career had already started gaining momentum before the Tyson-Paul fight. Thomas previously revealed that she walked in her first runway show during Miami Swim Week.
“This summer I walked in my first runway show during Miami Swim Week,” she told followers, sharing a clip of herself modeling a bikini.
“I’ve worked with a few brands as well, but I think social media is where I’ve found the greatest publicity to be. (Prior to Paul v Tyson),” she said.
In February 2025, Thomas also appeared in the music video for country singer Graham Barham’s song Oil Money.
She graduated from the University of Alabama in May 2025 with an undergraduate degree in management and entrepreneurship.
Before her modeling career took off, she had also worked with the St. Louis Cardinals’ in-game hype squad.
“I’m not going to be able to unsee a couple of those pics,” wrote one netizen
