As Julia Louis Dreyfus’s character Selina Meyer sets out to create a new chapter in her life, she will be seeking some serious revenge as season 6 of HBO’s Veep kicks off. The new season 6 trailer has arrived and it does not disappoint. In the beginning of the clip we see a completely filtered Selina giving an interview about her first year out of office. While she admits she was highly disappointed in the election results, she assures the public her life is on track and she’ll be making a strong comeback.
Again, that’s the filtered Selina. The trailer immediately cuts to a scene with now-Congressman Jonah Ryan (Timothy Simons), who cost her the election in the House of Representatives. “I will destroy you in ways that are so creative, they will honor me for it at the Kennedy Center,” Meyer says.
The rest of the clip is chalk full of classic Veep lines and expletives. My favorite one involves the word “Geisha” and involved a heavy does of sunscreen. I pretty much spit out my drink when Dreyfus utters the words. Last year Dreyfus won her fifth straight Emmy for Veep and if this trailer is any indication she’ll be winning a 6th.
