Anyone who has worked in customer service and interacted with a fair share of strangers on a daily basis knows how tiring it can be. Waiters and bartenders are no exception; they are fully aware of how much resilience it takes to smile at someone while they curse at you, complaining about (trivial) things that are out of your control. The job demands character and deserves proper recognition. Yet their salary is often so low, they have to rely on tips just to get by.
Sadly, some sleazy customers use tipping just as another way of disrespecting the staff serving them. For example, people leave fake money with a picture of their preferred presidential candidate.
