Oddly enough one of the Netflix comedy specials that somehow got lost in the shuffle is Tracy Morgan’s “Stayin’ Alive.” With all the hype that Dave Chappelle, Louis C.K,., and Amy Schumer got for their specials I suppose it was easy to forget about the likes of Norm Macdonald who by the way killed it in his special. And then you have Tracy Morgan who’s aptly titled special somehow went under the radar.
That the special wasn’t more hyped is kind of a mystery to me but from all indications Morgan is not the man you see who came back from a horrific accident to perform in 2016. He’s polished, more comfortable, and back to the man he used to be that charmed audiences in his own unique fashion. 16 months prior, he was nearly killed in a devastating car accident involving a Walmart truck. (The June 2014 incident on the New Jersey Turnpike killed comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair and left Morgan in critical condition.)
The fact that Morgan was even literally “standing” was something worth noting about his Netflix special.
