Werner Herzog has been deemed to be one of the most important directors in history by some, as his films are considered to be something rather special since he never compromises quality for quantity. He’s directed a fair amount of movies and most of them have been centered around a protagonist that is unflinching, unbending, and is continually at odds with their surroundings and whatever societal norms are presented to them. This quality alone seems to give his films more power as the lead characters tend to be unwavering in their pursuits.
One might think the director is attempting to showcase his own personality in this manner.
