The Top Five Uses of the song “Margaritaville” in Movies

Can you believe that it’s this hard to find Margaritaville in the movies? There’s undoubtedly a large amount of them that use it somewhere in the background, but unless you’ve got a photographic memory can pinpoint every single moment it’s dang near impossible to find it unless you type in just the exact right words. The song is awesome, laid back and easy to sing to, but it is so hard to find on anything other than Youtube videos that you’re going to have to bear with me.

So here’s what was found, don’t judge it too harshly.

5. Anger Management

This would be the perfect song for Anger Management considering how badly Dave needs to chill. He’s so uptight that you can almost hear his gears grinding every time something goes wrong. And of course that’s all a part of Dr. Buddy’s therapy, making SURE things go wrong so that he can assess and analyze his patient. Too bad Dave wasn’t in on that part, otherwise he might have willingly sat back and chilled out to this track.

4. Jurassic World

Thankfully this was the easiest of them to find. Not only is the track featured on the soundtrack and in the beginning of the trailer, but it’s also the title of the restaurant in this fun but deadly theme park. Whoever had the idea of bringing dead animals back to life in a world they no longer recognize was a genius when it came to a film idea. But if this was reality I don’t think that’s the word anyone would be using for long.

3. Club Dread

It’s an innocent enough request to ask someone to play a song that’s considered to be one of the all-time classics. Perhaps Coconut Pete’s just wound a little too tight, or maybe he’s miffed that Jimmy Buffet stole a little bit of his supposed thunder back in the day. By the way how many people really remember the 1970’s? Considering how much he’s supposed to have partied and the kind of stuff he’s claiming to have done, it’s a wonder that Pete remembers he even made an album back then. But seriously, all respect to Bill Paxton for the wild and outlandish performance.

2. The Town

So now that I’ve exhausted the clips that had something even remotely to do with the song I’m having to go down to mere mentions. In this film Jeremy Renner and Ben Affleck are talking when Renner asks if Affleck thinks he’s going to down to Margaritaville and drink everything in sight. It’s weak, it’s thin, but bear with me, it’s what I could find. This song is as elusive in movies as anything and at the moment a mention is just as good as anything.

1. Hot Money

There aren’t even enough clips of this movie online to really ascertain whether the IMDb page is correct, but the credits state that Jimmy Buffet, or his song at least, did appear in this film. It’s about a heist committed by several women that, never having done such a thing before, are rightfully nervous. Maybe the song is played near the end or somewhere in the middle when they believe they’ve gotten away with it.

I looked up and down for this song and this is what I found as pertaining to movies. If you find anything else please let me know, it would be interesting to see where else Margaritaville pops up.
