Welcome the funnier side of the Yelling Game! Robin Williams, may he rest in peace, was one of the funniest guys that ever took up the comedian’s life and took his talents onstage to the amusement of countless viewers. There were few that never liked the man since he was such an amazing and versatile comic, but he was also a very vocal actor that could raise his voice with the best of them. His yelling bouts however usually came with a decided purpose that filled in a gap that might have otherwise been left in his films, serving a need just as the man himself did so many times. At best his voice would always be at a moderate to medium pitch, while it could get good and loud when he really got going.
Here are just a few good examples of how he became one of the top yellers in Hollywood.
5. Jumanji
Jumanji didn’t get a whole lot of respect when it first came out for some reason. A lot of people blamed it on the CGI while others thought the whole idea of the movie was kind of ridiculous. Personally I liked it, and tend to think that the new version coming out might not be all it’s cracked up to be. But hopefully I’ll be wrong and it’ll continue the trend that was begun by Williams and his costars.
4. Good Morning Vietnam
It was a horrible time in American history, but somehow there were people that tried to make the stay in Vietnam something a little more tolerable. Unfortunately they weren’t always appreciated by the US Army or the locals all the time no matter how hard they tried. The troops however were shown to love the added sense of humor and the attempt at levity.
3. Good Will Hunting
Sean isn’t easily intimidated in this film and he knows how to fight back when it’s time. As he tells his old classmate and fellow teacher Jerry, he knows Will Hunting, the student they are both working with, better than anyone possibly could. This means that he knows how far Will can be pushed and just how Will is going to respond to such negative stimuli. The only thing that Jerry doesn’t seem to know is that Sean can only be pushed so far before he fights back.
2. Night At The Museum
This is just a fun one to throw in there since Robin Williams was in the movie. He kind of plays the voice of reason for Ben Stiller’s character but for the most part is a kind of moral guide that allows Larry to figure out things on his own. But of course he likes to have a spot of fun from time to time. He’s a wax statue that can talk, how could Robin Williams not have fun with that?
1. Hook
It’d be tough having to remember who you were only to be stuck thinking that you’re who you are. The Lost Boys are absolutely horrible to Peter upon his arrival in Neverland, but one thing is for certain, they know that Pan is in there somewhere, or at least a few of them do. As he finally emerges he let’s them all know one sure, immutable fact: Pan is back.
Robin Williams was among the best when it came to acting, making us laugh, and of course, yelling. Rest in peace sir.
