Mickey Jones was an American actor and musician who was born in Houston, Texas, on June 10, 1941. He began his career in the entertainment industry in 1959, initially working as a drummer for famous acts including Johnny Rivers, Bob Dylan, Trini Lopez, and Kenny Rogers and The First Edition. In 1976, he expanded his career in entertainment to television and film. He was particularly well-known for his roles in television series including ‘Justified’ and ‘Home Improvement’. In his later years, Mickey Jones suffered from illness for a long period, although the cause of this illness was never identified. Sadly, he passed away on February 7, 2018, at the age of 76. 1. Sling Blade- Monty Johnson

Mickey Jones played the role of Monty Johnson in this 1996 drama film about a man who is released from a psychiatric hospital. The movie starred Billy Bob Thornton, who also wrote and directed the movie. Other cast members included Dwight Yoakam, J.T. Walsh, John Ritter, and Lucas Black. This film was made on a shoestring budget of just $1 million and grossed $24.4 million at the worldwide box office.

2. National Lampoon’s Vacation- Trucker

‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’ was a hit road comedy film that was released in 1983. It is about the Griswold family taking a family vacation together and the hilarious situations they find themselves in along the way. The film starred Chevy Chase, Beverley D’Angelo, Imogene Coca, Randy Quaid, John Candy, and Christine Brinkley. Mickey Jones played the role of a trucker who is involved in a funny altercation with Clark Griswold. This movie was written by John Hughes and directed by Harold Haimes.

3. The Fighting Temptations- Scooter

‘The Fighting Temptations’ is a musical comedy-drama film that was released in 2003. It was directed by Jonathan Lynn and co-written by Saladin K. Patterson and Elizabeth Hunter. The film starred Cuba Gooding Jr., Beyoncé, Mike Epps, Steve Harvey, and Faizon Love. Mickey Jones portrayed the character Scooter. The story is about Darrin Hill, played by Gooding Jr., who goes to Monte Carlo to revive his home town’s choir. While bringing the church community back together, he also falls in love with a beautiful singer.

4. Drop Zone- Deuce

In this 1994 action-thriller film, Mickey Jones played the role of Deuce. Other members of the cast included Wesley Snipes, Gary Busey, Yancy Butler, and Michael Jeter. The movie was directed by John Badham and written by Peter Barsocchini and John Bishop. The film is about a US Marshall who is tracking down a rogue agent responsible for the death of his brother.

5. Dead Bang- Sleepy

‘Dead Bang’ is a 1989 action film that was written by Robert Foster and directed by John Frankenheimer. In this movie, Mickey Jones played the role of Sleepy. Others who starred in this movie included Don Johnson, Penelope Ann Miller, Bob Balaban, Tim Reid, and William Forsythe. The storyline is based on the real-life experiences of Jerry Beck, an LAPD Detective.
