Jake Busey is the kind of actor that was wild and crazy when he was younger but has since matured and in some cases kind of slipped into obscurity. His best stuff was really when he was younger, but some would argue that since he’s matured he’s really come on as a stronger and more disciplined actor. However it hasn’t really seemed to help him get noticed in the current era, though it does seem as though he might have his chance as a reporter with questionable morals that seems more like the characters he used to play when he appears in Stranger Things season 3.
Everyone’s got to grow up eventually but the chance to be who you are never really goes away.
5. Tomcats-Kyle Brenner
This is arguably one of his sleaziest roles since as Kyle he’s like the king of sleaze. He views women as conquests to take on while gladly telling the details of his latest encounters to friend and anyone that will listen. Plus he seems to think it’s okay to keep on doing his business with a woman even when she’s clearly too intoxicated to really know what’s going on. This was kind of the pinnacle of how bad of a character he could play.
4. Enemy of the State-Krug
Krug was one of the guys brought in to serve as the muscle for those in control that were trying to invade the life of Will Smith’s character. He wasn’t much of a presence compared to the rest of the cast but being who he is Jake Busey still managed to bring a certain level of crazy to the scene whenever he was in it and was the guy that managed to spark the final gunfight that took the lives of most of the guys in the room.
3. Starship Troopers-Ace Levy
Ace is that friend you have that you can’t stand for more than a few minutes but can’t help like simply because he can be a nice guy. He’s brash, doesn’t have a huge skill set, and thinks he’s the center of the universe at times, but when he gets to realizing just where he stands with people he can be a valuable asset since he’s loyal and will stand by your side no matter what comes. He’s a jerk, but he’s a jerk that sticks around.
2. Identity-Robert Maine
Before you realize the truth of this movie you get the feeling that Robert’s hiding a secret that you know is going to be something epic. Once you find it out however you might be disappointed or perhaps a little bit puzzled as to why it was being kept so tightly in the first place. It’s a nice bit of theater to add this in there and make a person think over and over just what’s going to happen to him, and why.
1. The Frighteners-Johnny Bartlett
This played right into the level of crazy that Jake Busey can deliver. As Johnny Bartlett that customary smile that he gets from his dad is perfect since it conveys the level of madness that the character displays so easily.
Some of his earlier stuff was obviously the best.
