Tommaso Ciampa is a professional wrestler who is a member of the WWE organization. He was previously an NXT Champion as well as an NXT Tag Team Champion and has earned the distinction of one of four professional wrestlers to have earned both titles. 1. Tommaso Ciampa is just his ring name

The wrestler was born on May 8, 1985, and his parents named him Tommaso Whitney. He adopted the name Tommaso Ciampa as his ring name. This makes him just 34 years of age. He’s doing very well at this point in his career, although he’s had plenty of ups and downs, he has a strong fan base who turn out to watch him compete wherever he appears. Tommaso was born in Boston Massachusetts.

2. He has gone by a lot of different rings names

Tommaso Whitney has adopted many different rings names in the time that he has been in the wrestling profession. He is best known by Tommaso Ciampa, but earlier in his career, he went by Demarso Whitney, Dr. Thomas, Prodigy, Thomas Penmanship, Tommy Penmanship, and Thomas Whitney ESQ. If you’ve heard of any of these other wrestlers, now you know that it was him under a different name.

3. He launched his career in 2005

Tommaso has been involved in pro wrestling since 2005 which makes him a 14 year veteran at the age of 34. His first wrestling matches were in his home state of Massachusetts for independent promotions which included Top Rope Promotions and Chaotic Wrestling.

4. He was trained by a WWE legend

We learned that Whitney received his initial training from Killer Kowalski. This famous wrestler was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Whitney was fortunate to learn the basics and a few advanced tips from one of the greats and most successful pro wrestlers in the business.

5. His early years were trying

Whitney didn’t get off to a great start in his career right away. He only started pro wrestling in January of 2005, and in May of that year, he went up against Sean Royal at an IWF Junior Heavyweight Championship match and failed to deliver. he returned to the ring on the same day and lost at a battle royal match failing to earn the number one spot. He suffered many losses his first year in the ring and went months without a win but he finally turned his losing streak around when he defeated Hansome Johnny to become with Chaotic Wrestling Heavyweight Champion.

6. He is a family man

Whitney was introduced to a professional lady wrestler named Jessie Ward by fellow pro wrestler Samoa Joe. The couple hit it off and started dating. They had a lot in common as they were both professional wrestlers, but Ward has since left the ring. She and Whitney were married in 2013 and they have one child together.

7. He was badly injured

Ciampa sustained injuries when he was competing at the ROH 13th Anniversary Show. Although he saw the match through to completion he did so while badly injured. after he was examined by health care professionals it was determined that two of his ribs had been fractured during the match and his pain was extremely intense. This shows how tough he really is, but still, it put him out of the ring for a series of matches and when he did return, his ribs were taped.

8. He did something different when he took a break

Tomasso hasn’t always been a full-time professional wrestler. There was a period of time when he was out of the ring more than he was in it. During this time, he took a job as the manager of a fitness studio. He stayed on at the studio until March of 2014 when he made the decision to leave the job to get back into professional wrestling full-time and to focus upon his career in the sport.

9. He’s known for perfecting his signature moves

Any dyed in the wool fan of Tomasso Ciampo or by any other name that he’s gone by is familiar with his signature moves. He’s known for taking his opponent down with the Over the shoulder belly to back piledriver and sometimes he even performed with move from the second rope. Another signature move is Neckbreaker. He’s also known for the High Knee, the Argentine facebuster, the Lariat, and the German Suplex. Finally, the Sicilian Barrage is another of his signature moves which include slap and knee strikes in a combination.

10. He’s different things to different fans

We’ve talked about the ring names that Whitney has adopted during his career. He’s also been given a lot of colorful nicknames on top of that. A few of the nicknames that he’s been given include The Project, The Dominant Male, Tommy Sports Entertainment, The Greatest Sports Entertainer of All Time, The Sicilian Psychopath, and The Psycho Killer. He’s also had some really cool entrance themes going on that has helped him to live up to at least come of these nicknames. Earlier when he was in the independent circuit he would walk in to “Dark Beat Mix” by Oscar G, then he switched up to “Psycho Killer” of the Talking Heads. When he was teamed with Johnny Gargano at NXT, his entrance theme was CFO$’s “Chrome Hearts,” and for WWE CWC, he stayed with the same group and went with “Chaos Rises.” For ROH he went with The Last Remaining Pinnacle’s “They Are Lost” and in 2018, his theme song was “4.33” by John Cage with his current them “No One Will Survive” by CFO$.
