Tomi Lahren’s Show Suspended after Lahren Reveals She is Pro Choice

If you are a super right wing conservative you love Tomi Lahren.  If you’re anyone else you pretty much can’t stand her.  But that’s exactly how Tomi Lahren has become so popular and successful as the host of The Blaze.   Her no nonsense approach and virtual decimation of anything that is liberal has drawn ire from critics but her fan base absolutely loves her.   She’s got a whopping 4.2 million likes on her Facebook page and a 671K following on Twitter.   Lohren was also in the media after she made appearances on The Daily Show and Real Time with Bill Maher where she was highly criticized in a public forum.

Truth be told, she knew exactly what she was doing and is of the opinion that any press is good press.    All of Lahren’s videos get millions of views because of her staunch opposition to anything left of center.  That’s her job.  She gets paid for spitting out all of her opinions no matter what they may be.  Well, not everything.  Recently Lahren admitted publicly that she was Pro-Choice and soon afterwards got her show suspended for a week.

Owner of the Blaze, Glenn Beck insisted on Monday that Lahren’s pro-choice position would not disqualify her from a job at The Blaze, the Texas-based multimedia company he launched in 2010. “I don’t hire people who are sycophants or who have my opinion,” he said. “I try to hire people who have a different opinion because I believe in being intellectually rigorous. I don’t want straw men. I want people to make a real argument on the other side so we can learn from each other and we can grow.”

Huh?  Then why was she suspended?  While I happen to think that Lahren is conservative I do think that she’s opening the door to go mainstream.  She’s got a face for television, an outspoken voice, and there’s really not much more she can do in her little niche of right wingers who love the likes of her and people like Alex Jones.   At this point in her career it would make sense to start leaning a little more center and get a spot on a major news channel a la Megyn Kelly.   I personally think her Pro-Choice stance was planting a seed to do just that.
