I never thought the movie Supernova was particularly good. Nor do I think any of you did either. Frankly it was just a bunch of people with no clothes on up in outer space. Honestly what the hell was this movie? Anyway, let’s get off how bad a movie this was and get to James Spader in this film. Have you ever seen an actor in a movie and you have to do a double take to make sure it’s the person you are thinking of? And I’m talking without the addition of make up or crazy costume that would conceal anything. I’m talking about just a “natural” physical transformation that makes this person look nothing like you’re accustomed to.
We all know that people like Christian Bale is a great shape shifter for movies but we expect this out of him. But sometimes out of nowhere comes a person who transforms for a movie and you’re blown away. Like Ed Norton in American History X. Or how about Matt Damon in Courage Under Fire? The list goes on. James Spader in Supernova is one of the most surprising transformations I’ve ever seen.
In what movie is Spader NOT skinny or frumpy? All but one. Supernova. I’m calling steroids here.
