The Walking Dead 2.13 “Beside The Dying Fire” Comic-to-TV Comparison

The Walking Dead - Beside the Dying Fire

THE RICK-TATORSHIP

AMC: With his group’s loyalty breaking down after revelations of Shane and the CDC, Rick defiantly challenges dissenters to try life out in the wild, especially after everything he sacrificed to keep them safe. Channeling his inner bad-ass, Rick assures anyone remaining with the group that this will no longer be a democracy, with him in charge.

THE COMICS: The change we’ve seen in AMC’s Rick brings him more in line with his comic counterpart, who frequently had to assess and re-assess the bounds of leadership and the new ‘rules’of their predicament. When Rick seemed to go off the rails a little bit, Dale and the others adopted a four-man council to make decisions instead, but eventually leadership was always thrust back into Rick’s hand(s).
