The Reason Why Netflix’s “Blonde” is Rated NC-17

The world is familiar with the life and story of Marilyn Monroe. Born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926, she is the woman who made big things happen for herself in her approximately 3 decades of life. She was an actress, but she was also a sex symbol like no one else in her time. She is a woman who lived one of the most fascinating lives of anyone else in the world, and her story is one many think they know but are not quite sure they know for certain, and there is always something that surprises everyone. When Netflix announced that they would film all about the late actress’ life and death, the world was excited. The movie is called “Blonde,” and it is being released on Netflix on September 23, 2022. While we still have a few months before the official release, we do have some information for you about the film including the cast and the rating.

Everything You Need to Know

This is a film that is set to be huge. The budget to make it is around $22 million, which is a substantial sum for a Netflix project of this magnitude. The movie will star a killer cast, too, including the lovely Ana de Armas as Marilyn herself. The exceptionally talented Adrien Brody will play the role of Arthur Miller, the renowned screenwriter and third husband of the young star. The couple wed in 1956 and divorced in 1961, only a year prior to her death. Bobby Cannavale will take on the role of Joe DiMaggio, the man who married Monroe in 1954. He was her second husband, and he was the husband she was married to for the shortest amount of time. The actress and the famous baseball player divorced after only a year of marriage, and it was a major headline in the 1950s. Julianne Nicholson will take on the role of Marilyn Monroe’s own mother, Gladys Pearl Baker. Caspar Phillipson is going to play John F. Kennedy, former President of the United States.

It is no secret that the world suspected that Monroe and JFK were involved in a long and illicit affair for many years when the star was alive. There are even conspiracy theories that her alleged suicide might have been a murder that was committed by those who wanted to protect the late president, but we know nothing for fact. The simple fact of the matter is that this is a woman whose life was nothing more than speculation more than half the time, and it is no secret that the world loves a scandal and a secret affairs. The fact that it was the most famous actress and model in the world and the President of the United States only made it that much more tempting for the world to want to believe it was true.

The Rating

The film is rated NC-17. What this means is that the film is going to include a lot of graphic moments. What has people talking is the fact that this is the first time in Netflix history a show has had this rating, and the world is talking about it like it is their job. Because the director and writer – Andrew Dominik – did not want to cut anything from the movie, the rating stands. It’s going to include a lot of nudity, a lot of graphic content, and a lot of sexual moments and sexuality. It is not a movie for kids, but it is going to be something that the director is proud of. He didn’t leave anything untouched, and he is making sure he gets to tell the story the way he feels the tragic star’s life should be told. While this is not necessarily a biography so much as it is based on the novel of the same name – which is a work of fiction – written by Joyce Carol Oates, there is some speculation that there might be a scene in the movie that deals directly with some sort of sexual misconduct – perhaps a rape. At the moment, we do not know what to expect from this film, but we do know that it is going to be big. Fans are excited to see it, but it is something you might want to consider before you allow your family to watch with you. This is not a movie meant for kids or teens – and letting them watch this might be something you want to discuss at home, though it is not recommended.
