Last night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta was hands down the best hour the show has given us all season, and I’m not even just talking about the fight between cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs Kenya Moore and black Barbie Porsha Stewart.
If you haven’t been in the know, this past week has been a trying time for the former Ms. USA title holder. Walter Johnson, Kenya’s laid-back “boyfriend” on the show, revealed how their relationship was as fake as 95% of her hair and the media frenzy behind it has not been so kind. So imagine my reaction when NeNe Leakes openly questioned Kenya and Walter’s relationship in front of everyone on last night’s episode. The irony of the act was so hilarious that it took me fifteen minutes to stop laughing about NeNe’s spot-on presumption of Kenya’s fake relationship with Walter, because Mrs. Leakes did remind us on how she was a good judge of character.
As the episode went on, Kenya kept ‘wishing’ for Walter to marry her, even going as far as attempting to make Cynthia and Peter’s vows renewal ceremony about her not tying the knot any time soon. But just as much as Kenya kept pushing the fake relationship, NeNe kept doubting its validity vocally and directly. Sensing that NeNe wasn’t going to ease off the subject, Kenya tried to shut NeNe up by bringing attitude into the conversation. Big mistake, Kenya, because NeNe is going to read you like Maya Angelou at a poetry slam during the reunion and I cannot wait.
Finally at the end of the episode, NeNe brought up how cordial both Kenya and Porsha Stewart were to each other, which was strangely true. While Porsha was explaining how much Kenya had changed since the night of their tiff, the wannabe bride became agitated about the incident being brought up again and completely snapped, setting off the fight we’ve been waiting for all season. Kenya claimed she was mad Porsha called her a tramp (which she was sort of acting like by flirting with the other women’s husbands) and retaliated by attacking Porsha’s status as a nobody who is living on the names of her grandfather and husband. As Porsha and Kenya fought, the veteran RHOA women (NeNe, Phaedra and Cynthia) looked as if they were saying, “Thank God we are so above this B.S. now,” and their expressions gave me way too much life.
Then just when you thought the fight and Kenya’s antics couldn’t get any wilder, the former Miss USA dropped the latest “Did this girl just say that?!” Real Housewives of Atlanta quote that already has memes for it across the web. I’m just going to post the clip here, because I can’t do it any justice:
When I tell you that I died when this chick dropped that foolishness on my screen… I didn’t get up off my floor for at least a good 20 minutes. At least.
If last night’s episode didn’t showcase just how certifiable Kenya is at this point of the game, I don’t know what will. In fact, I’m interested in seeing the dynamic between Cuckoo Kenya and the other women once they get back to Atlanta, because it can’t go back to status quo after this public display of insanity.
While Kenya was acting an ass, Cynthia and Peter had a beautiful renewal ceremony, which felt so right after the drama they endured during their wedding back in season three. The structure of the ceremony, along with the tears flowing down Cynthia and Peter’s as they professed their love for each other, were the hallmarks that should shut up all the naysayers about their relationship, because they are truly in love and are just as real about it than most people care to admit (Cough, Kenya, Cough).
So what did you think about last night’s episode? Should Kenya be begging for Bravo to not kick her to the curb? Or will they try to ramp up her craziness to a whole new level?
