General Hospital fans love a good couple, but they aren’t always so good. Some of them are not good. Some of them are just bad. Some of them are a terrible mixture. But some of them are just so annoying and frustrating to watch that it hurts us as fans. Isn’t that crazy how it works? It actually hurts us, we don’t like it, and things aren’t good for us even though we have no actual situation that works with this at all. We know that some things are good, and we know that some things aren’t. It is a way of life, and we love that, but this is one of those situations we have to bring up. Couples who are legitimately painful to watch when they are or were together. Do you have more couples like this you want to add to the mix?
Ava and Griffin
Might we point out that it is never a good idea to sleep with your daughter’s boyfriend? We might mention that, but we’d like to think that you all — we all — know that. Ava Jerome does not know that, nor does she care about that in the least. She’s not the kind of mom who likes to have these situations in her life, and she’s not going out of her own way to be sure she can do that without some issues to face. She did this, it was hard to watch, and we struggled with it. It was frustrating to us that they were doing this, that they thought fans might want this. We had such a hard time watching this all go down in so many ways, and it’s not something we ever want to see happen again. Aside from the whole thing about him being her daughter’s boyfriend, it turns out that they had no chemistry and they were awful together.
Michael and Nelle
We knew that she was a trainwreck long before he knew she was. His mother, however, was not fooled by this girl for even one moment. She was right from the start, she was not going to let this girl take her family for a ride, and she did it anyway, because no one wanted to listen to Carly. No one wanted to know that she was right, and look what happened? We think that Michael should have listened to his mother, and he never should have gotten involved with a woman who was involved with his mom’s husband, either (even though we all knew she was not really). It was ugly from the start, and we all hated it. It was hard to watch.
Valentin and Nina
He married her because he needed a wife. She married him because she didn’t know what to do with her life. She’s always been a bit lost and confused about things in her life. She’s always looked for someone to take care of her, even though she’s clearly capable of taking care of herself. She’s always been someone who needed something she wouldn’t get from a man, and she chose poorly. He’s been using her from the start, and it’s been painful to watch this all unfold. We hated it, and we were so happy to see her leave him at the alter and move on with her life when she finally realized the ugly truth about him and their relationship — that it wasn’t one, and it would never be one.
Liz and Franco
He’s just to obsessed with the past to be with her, and we cannot deny that. He is so boring in comparison to what she needs. She needs some spark and some passion, like she had with Lucky when she was so much younger. She had that, it worked for her, and she was able to focus on things that were great for her. With Franco, she’s only ever been totally miserable, and we cannot do anything about that for her. She was never happy with him, and she’s never going to be happy with him. It’s that easy, and it’s that simple. Can they just get it together for a moment and move on with the things in their lives?
