The Five Best Mandy Moore Movies of Her Career

Imagine if Mandy Moore had believed her parents when they said that her singing was ‘just as phase’ and let it drop as she got older. Things would have turned out a lot differently for her since singing is what really brought her into show business and then made her the famous individual she now is. In fact had she believed that it was just a phase she would have missed out on making one of the most iconic figures that Disney has ever seen and we might have received a very different character than we have now. Thankfully at the age of 13 Mandy started getting into music all on her own, and was discovered by a FedEx driver that heard her singing while he was making a delivery. From that point on the work was put in to make sure that she became a star and eventually someone that was on the minds of many people that came to adore her for her voice and acting talent.

Here are a few of her best movies to date.

5. Because I Said So

Parents tend want what they think will be best for their children but at times need to be put in check, especially when they’re own desires seem to be put on hold to hover over the lives of their kids. When Daphne thinks her daughter Milly needs help finding a man that’s good enough to get to know and keep around she decides to meddle in Milly’s personal life by contacting a man that she figures would be good for her daughter. Unfortunately Milly resents this when she finds out and the man that Milly ends up picking becomes the man that Daphne realizes she should have approved of from the beginning.

4. The Princess Diaries

With some people it’s kind of hard to see them as the bully since they seem so nice and otherwise incapable of being that mean. But Mandy does a good job being the school bully as Lana, a young woman that seems to live to make Mia’s life miserable, especially after finding out that she’s the next in line to the crown of Genovia. Of course the one thing that a lot of bullies have to learn, or be taught, at some point in their lives is that it’s easy to change who you are on the outside, it’s who you are on the inside that people will eventually come to judge you for. Mia makes this point quite well at one point in the movie.

3. 47 Meters Down

Some people feel the ever-present need to feel a rush and prove that they’re not boring, but diving down in a rusty cage with sharks the size of sedans doesn’t seem like the smartest thing to do, especially with a cable that seems like it could snap at any moment. Some people would claim that, like many underwater films, this movie demonizes sharks, but in truth once you’re in the water you’ve entered their territory and there’s no demonizing about it. Humans are the invaders in the deep and if they entice the sharks to come closer then soon enough they’re going to be the prey. Sharks don’t tend to come after people on a regular basis, but they’ll certainly take a look and possibly bite if they feel the need.

2. A Walk to Remember

It’s amazing how two people can know of each other for so long and yet never realize how much they have in common. Jamie and Landon don’t get off to a great start since he hangs around with a group of friends that like to get into trouble and do stupid things. But when they target Jamie he decides to take a stand and defend her, thereby gaining her good graces as they begin to get closer. Unfortunately Jamie is hesitant since she has leukemia and isn’t responding to treatments. After a while Landon decides to take the risk and ask if she’ll marry him, to which she says yes. It’s a bit of fleeting happiness that they’re allowed to share, but it’s enough that it happened at all.

1. Tangled

The story of Rapunzel is one that has been enjoyed by kids and adults throughout the years, but this movie took it in a direction that was absolutely great since it showed Rapunzel as more than the helpless young woman that needed a prince to come save her. Obviously Flynn Rider isn’t a prince, but he’s not exactly her savior either since by the time they’re out of the tower Rapunzel starts pulling her weight quite easily and saves him more than once as she proves to be far more adaptable to the outside world than she would have ever believed.

Mandy Moore has contributed a lot to the music and movie industries, proving she’s definitely got the talent to make it big.
