The Five Best Daniel Bruhl Movies of His Career

Daniel Bruhl Rush

Daniel Bruhl is an actor you might not think much about until you see him since in a few movies he’s the character that’s there to be noticed and then somehow behind the main action at times when you take your attention off of him. He does get plenty of prominence in some movies since he happens to be one of the main characters, but there are those movies in which he’s around but doesn’t get showcased as much since he’s not the biggest name and doesn’t have the biggest billing. That being said though he does have a style of acting that’s very versatile and at the same time doesn’t change quite as much as you would think since if you watch from one movie to the next he has a lot of the same facial expressions like many other people. One great thing about Daniel is that he’s able to pull a story and a cast together even if it’s at the expense of him being fully noticed at all times.

Here are five of his best movies.

5. The Fifth Estate

Remember the huge snafu when WikiLeaks came out and started causing mayhem? This movie is about that and the process that came about to make it possible, and the internal struggle that was created when Daniel and Julian decided to go for it and allow people to know what had been hidden from them. The whole idea of trying to keep the public informed and give them the kind of information that the higher-ups don’t always seem interested in sharing is kind of noble in a way, but there’s a very thin line that doesn’t need to be crossed and this idea kind of leapt over that line without looking to see what was on the other side.

4. Captain America: Civil War

In Marvel comics Baron Zemo is still something of a lower-level character in terms of impact and development, when compared to a lot of other villains at least, but he had a much better story arc since some fans should be able to remember him. In the movie however the popularity of the heroes and the inclusion of Black Panther and Spider-Man were likely too much when coupled with the idea that the heroes were warring with each other to really pay much attention to him. Honestly you can give him some credit for pitting the heroes against each other, kind of, but overall his character kind of got buried beneath the notoriety and star power.

3. Burnt

This movie shows how far a person, or a group, will go for someone that they believe has potential but still needs to be shown the way to deal with people on a more personal level. Adam is a wreck, there’s no other way to say it, and he pushes people away even as he admits to needing them at one point or another. For many the decision would be clear, cut him loose and let him fend for himself. But as he continues to change throughout the movie those that continue to stand by him, albeit at a distance a times, are those that come to see the biggest changes and realize that their faith was well-founded.

2. Inglorious Basterds

Daniel kind of pops in and out of this movie as Fredrick Zoller, a German hero that kills around 250 enemies during the war and is turned into a hero by the Nazi’s thanks to his courage and bravery. This goes to show that each side of any conflict has their heroes and those they choose to elevate, though in the end it was shown that he was just as crude and forceful as any individual could be since he decided that Shoshanna owed him a little something for his continued kindness towards her and any influence he might have had in making sure her theater was used for his big premier. Some might call it karmic justice that he was killed by Shoshanna even as he killed her in turn.

1. Rush

The thrill of competition and the urgent need to push oneself further, harder, and to an extent that some people feel is unhealthy is quite strong in many athletes regardless of the sport. Even a horrific car crash couldn’t take Bruhl’s character out of the race for that long, though as it is with many biographical movies this one took a few liberties along the way to make itself a little more appealing. That being said though it’s also been seen that this movie carried a rather good amount of factual data that was used to create a story that many people found inspiring and quite entertaining.

In many ways Daniel is great when he’s front and center, but as a supporting character he’s great because he’s there when you need him and doesn’t tend to clutter up the movie when you don’t.
