It’s kind of hard to say that some things and some people are starting to fit a mold but when it comes the music industry that seems to happen from time to time. Cole Swindell has been as successful as the next guy when it comes to his career, he’s written a good number of songs for other people and also come up with his own that he performs. But there’s a definite middle of the pack feel that a lot of people do their utmost to break out of and while he’s doing his own thing that’s unique to him it’s still something that tends to get lumped into a big group of artists when you really look at how singers are treated in the industry. There are no doubt a lot of people that know about him and appreciate his music but the truth is that unless you’re a big country fan this might be the first time you’ve heard of him.
Here are some of his best songs just to give you and idea of what he sounds like.
5. Break Up in the End
You know that feeling that occurs when someone mentions a favorite artist or performer to you and you have no idea who they are? The person might get all excited about them and the prospect of going to a concert or just listening to a new song, but you’re still in the dark about it. That happens to a lot of performers from various genres since the music industry is so vast that getting to know every artist out there is virtually impossible, even if it happens to be a person’s job. There are so many people coming up through the ranks every year that getting to know them all isn’t exactly pointless, but it’s increasingly difficult since just keeping up with the ones that have been there for awhile is taxing.
4. You Should Be Here
It’s not necessary to deny that Cole Swindell is popular in any sense of the word and it’s not possible anyway since he’s garnered more than a couple nominations during his five years that he’s been in the business. He’s won one of them so it’s evident that someone likes what he’s doing and is willing to take the chance on his career becoming something even greater a time goes on. There’s so much potential in so many different singers and performers in the industry that saying that any one of them doesn’t have talent is a huge mistake since there’s always the possibility of hidden potential to be uncovered.
3. Flatliner
Every time a performer goes on stage, every time they release a new song, and every time they decide to keep trying no matter how well or how poor they’re doing, they’re essentially telling the world that it doesn’t faze them whether they’re loved or not. That’s the kind of thick skin and spirit that a person in such a business needs since it pushes them forward and gives them a reason for existing in an industry that can easily chew a person up and spit them out without a penny left to their name. The moment they give in to the hype or lack of it they risk making people right when it comes to a perceived lack of drive or talent and the ability they have to sustain it.
2. Middle of a Memory
One major up for Cole is that he has a great deal of energy in his music and a lot of passion that seems to conform to the standard of country music but now and again seems to edge beyond it or even go around it in order to provide something just different enough to be appealing. He can be energetic, he can be soft, he can be quick-moving in his lyrics, and he can jam along with a lot of people and exist on the same level. In other words he’s got the skills that it takes to survive in the business, but it would almost seem that he needs something sustainable that will break him out of the mold eventually.
1. Chillin’ It
Overall Cole is a lot of fun to listen to, and quite honestly I’m not a country fan but I can appreciate a good song when it hits and can understand when people have talent and should be recognized for it. He’s not the next coming when it comes to country, but he could easily be one of the top names if he came up with something to set himself apart. That being said he’s a good addition to anyone’s music collection and someone that has definitely earned a fan base as well as a following.
It’s easy to recognize skill and good music, but potential is something that needs to be unlocked.
