The Films That are Inspiring Stranger Things Season 4

Stranger Things 3 Finale

Jessica Fisher of GeekTyrant is correct in stating that the fourth season of Stranger Things is a ways off, but the list of movies that are set to influence the show when it comes back are enough to make a person raise their eyebrows and wonder just how far into the future we’re going to see the group go when they come back. It’s also enough to wonder just where everyone is going to be and if we’re going to be introduced once again to the long distance relationship that has occurred in a lot of movies but only ever seems to work in the movies, at least on a regular basis. With the list of movies that are apparently influencing the next season however it does seem as though things are going to end up being far more dramatic than anything since the list does include a few movies that are increasingly deep and in many ways seem to indicate that the cast will be going through their paces once again as they experience even more growing pains as life continues to roll on as it tends to do in one disturbing manner after another.

Here’s the list of movies that will be seen to influence season 4.

The Peanut Butter Solution

A young boy goes bald after having the Fright put on him. The advice he gets from some friendly ghosts is to spread a peanut butter concoction over his scalp to help grow his hair back. Well, the hair does grow back, but it just keeps on growing and eventually gets out of control. This almost seems to be an indication that Eleven’s powers will come back since by the end of season 3 nothing had happened. But it does beg the question of how they’ll return and if they’ll go out of control this time, meaning that she won’t be able to stop them from growing and growing. Or maybe it still has something to do with the Mind Flayer, as it did manage to injure her in the final fight.

The Fisher King

A fall from grace and a serious break with reality are what drive this movie onward, though redemption is also a means of conveying what Jack and Parry go through as they struggle to make sense of their lives. In terms of being enough to influence Stranger Things though there are a few different angles that could be worked from the example that this movie sets as there are more than a few relationships in the show that could take after this story.

Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey

Is Eleven going to be headed into the Upside Down? If you’ll recall, Bill and Ted had to go to hell and deal with their own personal demons before escaping, so it might be that Eleven has to go to the one place that she might actually fear to either retrieve her powers or finally deal with the threat for good and all. It’d be interesting however if the theory that Will Byers created the Upside Down came to light and made this something of a conundrum for Eleven since in order to make things right she might have to take care of Will first and hope that his influence would shut the Upside Down for good, or possibly destroy it.

You’ve Got Mail

Jonathan and Nancy, Eleven and Mike, heck, Dustin and his girlfriend, there’s a lot of chances to utilize the material from this movie an it could be something we haven’t even thought of yet since there’s been so much going on in the show that trying to predict just what the movie will influence is kind of difficult. But the whole long distance relationship angle is one that seems the most obvious and a reconciliation might be on the way eventually since without it the show is going to feel a bit disjointed no doubt.

Ordinary People

It’d be interesting to see just how many people really remember this movie since it’s not one that you might think about all the time. But the instance in which a family is nearly torn apart when the eldest child dies is something that might translate pretty well into the show. But it does beg the question of whether or not Jonathan is on the chopping block for next season or if they won’t be taken too much from the movie apart from the chilly nature of the mother/wife that eventually leaves her family. At this point it’s enough to think that Joy is on edge pretty much all the time with everything she’s had to deal with, but seeing her leave her family is kind of a harsh way to go, so maybe another theory will pan out eventually.

It’s going to be a wild season when it finally hits.
