Shamy’s wedding just added another name to the guest list, and he’s the long-awaited brother of the groom! TVOvermind can confirm that Jerry O’Connell has been cast in the role of George Cooper Jr., better known to The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon fans as Georgie. The announcement was made at the end of The Big Bang Theory‘s panel Wednesday night at PaleyFest in Los Angeles. O’Connell will make his appearance by season’s end, at his brother Sheldon’s upcoming wedding to Amy Farrah Fowler.
Fans of Young Sheldon have gotten to know the younger version of Sheldon’s brother, played by Montana Jordan. As an adult, Georgie is the last unseen member of the immediate Cooper family on The Big Bang Theory. Laurie Metcalf has had a steady role playing Sheldon’s mother Mary Cooper since the first season. Both Sheldon’s twin sister Missy (Courtney Henggeler, Season 1) and grandmother Constance, aka Meemaw (June Squibb, Season 9), have had guest appearances on the show. Besides George Sr., whose death predated the pilot, Georgie is the only member of the Young Sheldon clan who has not made the trip from Texas to California.
Though Georgie has never been seen in the last 11 years of the show, Sheldon has had plenty to say about his brother, most of it unflattering. Through Sheldon, Georgie has been described as dumb (also by his mother Mary Cooper), mean to Sheldon as a kid, with at least one ex-wife. Young Georgie is not as smart as Young Sheldon, but it will be interesting to see the adult interaction between the brothers. We may also get some informative tie-in’s as to how the brothers evolved from their child selves to their adult selves.
You can catch O’Connell when he makes his TBBT debut this May.

This may be the third in the trilogy of bad moves made by the brothers.
1] Allowing his wife to show & discuss the pic of him in a Speedo on “Conan” (even after she gave him a part on “The Librarians”, which was also not that smart after “We Are Men” or whatever it was called was rightfully put put of its misery).
2] Leaving “Sliders” without taking the rest of his real family.
3] Of course, this.
