The Best Uses of Matchbox 20 Songs in Movies or TV

Matchbox 20 came on the scene in the mid to late 90s and started picking up speed as they came out with one track after another that people tended to pick up on and instantly like. Their sound was something that had been heard before but was still desired in a big way since it was still something new and exciting. For days and weeks and even months their songs could be heard on the radio, in clubs, and even at social functions since they were at one time among the biggest and newest sensations to come out to the public. At this point in their career they’re still performing but while they’ve been wildly popular throughout their career they have, like everyone else, had compete with new and up and coming artists to stay relevant and keep their sound just enough on the edge to stay in the game.

Here are a few of their songs as presented on TV and in movies.

5. Matchbox 20 – 3AM

This band has been one of the biggest names for the last couple of decades for a good reason since Rob Thomas is perhaps one of the most well-known singers in the world and has helped to propel his group in a direction that has been mostly positive and quite lucrative. Initially however this song and a few others didn’t debut on the top 100 list since an old and now eliminated rule had kept them from being listed since they weren’t released as singles. Upon being noticed by a wide array of people however it was pretty obvious from the start that they were going to be a huge sensation.

4. Matchbox 20 – Real World

This is just a fun song to sing and is one of their more playful tracks that people kind of took as they would and either loved or listened to a couple of times and then moved on. Some of their music is like that, and in truth you almost have to be a diehard fan in order to really get into every track on their albums and enjoy them just the same. There are plenty of people that do this however since they’re so into their music that they can list when the song came out, who was in the band at that time, and many other statistics that might blow the minds of anyone that listens to them.

3. The X Factor – She’s So Mean

Live shows have almost always been the preferred medium of any fan since the live show is an experience that seems much more personal and gives a better idea of what the band really sounds like. Studio-made albums are great since they give the kind of performance that doesn’t have to worry about background noise. But for the experience and the raw sound of a band as it plays its songs for the fans that appreciate them a live concert has no real equal. In being able to see a band in real life it kind of elevates the whole experience and makes it a lot more special for the fans in many ways.

2. When In Rome – How Far We’ve Come

Love and superstition seem to run concurrent to one another at times and tend to cause a big mess. When Beth decides to disregard legend however and picks up several coins out of a fountain in Rome she is pursued not too long after by several men that had thrown the tokens into the fountain. While the attention seems to be good for her according to everyone else she finds it cloying and rather bothersome since she has one man in mind that she wants, but can’t be sure if the coin she picked up that’s his is the reason he loves her or not. The realization that he loves her without the coin at the end is a nice finish to an otherwise crazy story.

1. Matchbox 20 – Push

Unless you’ve been following their career from the very beginning this might be one of the songs that really turned you on to the band since it was one of their first big hits and was played endlessly on radio stations across the country. It was one of their first big breakout tracks and managed to pull in an enormous amount of listeners that started giving them a second and third look. While it didn’t catapult them to fame and riches all on its own this song was one that you could hear people singing over and over wherever they went since it’s so easy to sing and has a great rhythm to it.

Throughout their career Matchbox 20 has done quite a bit to insure that they’re going to stick around, and for the most part they’ve done that as they’ve been nominated for many awards and won at least a couple.
