Teen Wolf 4.08 Review: ”Time of Death”

This week’s Teen Wolf was a very unusual one for this fan and it shows how far the show has come.

The idea that the characters would “kill” Scott in order to lure The Benefactor to the hospital is a strong sign of how much these teenagers has grown for the past four years. If someone had asked me back in season 1 if Scott would ever consider “killing” himself in order to trick the main villain, I would have said that there was no chance that he would ever be brave enough to do that.

They were sort of hinting that Braeden and Derek were going to hook up one way or another, but the question for us was, would they work well together? The answer to that is yes, they did as Braeden may actually be the best love interest that Derek has ever had on the show, although he hasn’t had that many.

A theme that could be sensed a lot in this episode for Scott was once again, “identity” because something that Scott have been struggling with since he became an alpha is, to never kill. Even the conversation that he had with his father — who I have never been that big of a fan of — was a nice thing by the writers to add in.

For once, their relationship was actually intriguing to follow because usually, those two together doesn’t really interest me that much. The dream that he was constantly stuck in throughout this episode where he had to kill someone, was intriguing, especially when it got reset every time he didn’t “succeed” in doing what he was supposed to.

That shot when his face was covered in blood stains while being in alpha mode is without doubts one of the most terrifying things that I have ever seen of Scott on the show. Is this a foreshadowing that he will perhaps kill someone this season, not necessarily Liam, but perhaps someone? I certainly think so and at this point, but that remains to be seen.

Since we only have four episodes now left of season 4, it made sense to have Malia and Peter finally interact with each other. Especially after last week when she learned that her real last name was Hale. I got to say that Shelly Henning and Ian Bohen sure do have great chemistry together as father and daughter.

The only thing I hope for now is that both of them will survive these last four episodes of the season so that we can hopefully see a more fleshed out relationship between these two in season 5 because I just want to see how Peter would deal being a father and if he would do a good job with it.

“Time of Death” got a lot more surprising towards the end when Lydia started speculating if her grandmother was in fact, actually dead. I really liked how the previous scene with Scott and Kira discussing that the Benefactor was a Banshee, clicked with that final scene because it shows that almost everyone is starting to get even closer to what is going on.

If Nana Martin really is The Benefactor or somehow connected to him/her, it would be one of the biggest things on Teen Wolf ever and it would certainly be fun to see not just another female villain, but also someone who is connected to one of our core characters.

Overall, great episode and as we are getting closer towards the end of this season, we should hopefully within the next two episodes know who The Benefactor is because the suspense is killing me!
