When we last left Castiel at the end of the Supernatural Season 10 finale, he was under Rowena’s spell and about to kill Crowley. And while Season 11 may open with Cas still being controlled, it sounds like he’ll be back to his old self soon, as Misha Collins emphasized in our roundtable interview with him this past weekend at San Diego Comic-Con that Castiel, Dean, and Sam will need to work together and put any issues that they may have with each other aside in order to defeat the Darkness.
In addition to previewing the new “big bad” that will be wreaking havoc this season, Collins stated that Dean and Cas will be able to move past whatever strain the Mark of Cain put on their friendship last season. He also discussed just what goes into making an episode of Supernatural and how and why he’s excited about this new season. Check out the roundtable interview with him below:
However, as excited as he is for the new season, Collins appears just as enthusiastic about his worldwide, charity scavenger hunt, Gishwhes, which he mentions at the end of the video above. Gishwhes will again be taking place this year, from August 1-8, and this Sunday, July 19, is the last day to register for it.
For more information on Gishwhes, watch the video below, and check out these photos of some awesome challenges that were completed last year, such as creating an all-condiment Captain Picard portrait and hand-drawing a movie poster featuring Misha and Queen Elizabeth II. It seems like an incredibly fun way to interact with friends and fellow pop culture fans, while also doing some good for those less fortunate as well.
Supernatural Season 11 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 9 p.m. on The CW.
