Super Mario Brothers Parkour (In Real Life)

Parkour has become somewhat of a sensation in recent years from videos of people running full speed over tall edges, jumping over walls, climbing various structures, and many more–all with no assistive equipment or paraphernalia. That’s really the draw of parkour, and it’s a skill that many wish they had but don’t. It’s difficult and absolutely entertaining to watch. What’s even more entertaining is when you mix parkour with a little bit of computer graphics ingenuity, and you can have a real-live Super Mario Brothers experience.

This is exactly what this video gives us. We start off with Mario jumping and freerunning everywhere before he is joined by his brother Luigi. The costumed traceurs can be seen vaulting and somersaulting over various obstacles, many of which are actually Super Mario Bros. graphics. They come out of green pipes; they pick up coins and throw small fireballs. They even kick goombas and jump on koopa troopa shells to gather points. The graphic effects of Super Mario elements are phenomenal, and they add to the captivating factor of the parkour itself. The traceurs jump and flip on walls like it’s nothing.

We follow along with the story and see Mario jump into a pipe to end up in what looks like an underground parking garage. Somehow along the way, Mario ends up on a beach and starts to relax. Next thing he knew, he is blasted straight up to the sky after stepping on something at the beach. He goes out into space before smashing back to the ground, right in front of Luigi. The brothers keep on going, facing a ton of large fireballs. Mario even manages to pick up a 1-up mushroom, just in time before a giant fireball–probably from King Koopa–kills him and his brother, graphically that is.

Watching this video will leave you feeling nostalgic and wanting to play the beloved video game classic. It might also make you want to go outside and imagine you lived in a Super Mario world.
