Things will be getting pretty spooky on Netflix this summer with the streaming giant’s newest series, Stranger Things. The first trailer for the supernatural drama, which stars Winona Ryder, very much has an X-Files feel to it, and it does a nice job of teasing what the season’s main story will be without giving too much away.
Written and directed by Matt and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines, Hidden), Stranger Things is “a love letter to the supernatural classics of the ’80s.” Per Netflix, the series tells “the story of a young boy who vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.”
In addition to Winona Ryder, Stranger Things stars David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton, and Matthew Modine. The show debuts on Netflix on Friday, July 15. Check out the official trailer and poster for Stranger Things below:
