At the beginning of the week there were two primary areas of focus within the Trump administration. The first was grading how Trump’s first 100 days in office have gone. Analysis of his executive orders, promises he’s kept or haven’t kept, his foreign relations, and just about everything else has been laid out on the table. In addition to his first 100 days people have been trying to analyze the one page tax reform “plan” that doesn’t have much substance at all. The latest? There’s a good chance there’s a “major, major” conflict that’s going to happen with North Korea (in Trump’s own words).
So how do we make sense of all this? How do we decipher this? We do what we all do nowadays. We turn to late night for the real scoop. Last night Colbert dedicated most of his monologue not talking about all of the things Donald Trump has done while in office, but rather Colbert decided to focus on all of the things he hasn’t done.
