Stan Lee is a man that has earned his share of fame and distinctions for the contributions he’s made to the world of fantasy and story telling. It turns out that he has a really big heart and a soft spot for kids. What he did for one special fifth grader is a story that needs to be told about him. He appeared at Dragon Con in Atlanta this year and rode through the parade with each arm adorned by a Spider Man cutie. There was a special lady who worked with a very shy fifth grader watching the spectacle. She was there for a very good reason. It wasn’t to see Stan for herself, it was to do a good deed for someone in need. Here is the heartwarming story that you have to hear.
Summer Hughes, counselor
Summer is the counselor for a very shy fifth grader, who drew a picture of Spider Man with Stan Lee. He didn’t do a lot of talking because of his extreme bashfulness, but he had plenty to say about how much he loved superheroes. She asked hi to draw another picture and he did. Hughes took it upon herself to take the drawing to present it to Lee as a gift from the boy at Dragon Con.
Meeting Stan Lee
She went to the parade in search of someone who would be willing to pass the drawing on to Lee. After battling the crowds, she came to an open area and was early for the autograph signing. The table where Lee was set to appear an hour later was there, but there wasn’t a line. Instead, just Lee sat there in a stroke of luck. She asked the attendant if she could give the picture to Mr. Lee and obtained permission. She approached the celebrity and told him why she was there. She just wanted to give him the gift from her student who knew nothing of her plan. The assistant to Lee told her to take out her phone. Stan held up the picture that the boy had drawn and Hughes was allowed to take a photograph of the legend holding it. This was a priceless gift that she was able to take back to the young student and it helped to create a memory that he will have for the rest of his life.
I'm late with this post because I haven't been able to find the words… here goes. It's lengthy. I'm an elementary…

Lee was preparing to meet with fans seeking his autograph and for big stars, this calm before the storm is necessary to help them to have a break before the hordes arrive. It was a very kind gesture on Lee’s part, to give up his break time to hear the story and to make a little boy’s day. The artwork is very good, and for all we know, the student could end up being one of the next great artists to join the team that creates the popular comic books. Stan Lee let go of the much needed break in the action that he was getting at Dragon Con, to make a difference in somebody’s life.
