On SNL’s Pete Davidson Quitting Drugs: Good For Him

It’s hard to pay attention to anything on Saturday Night Live outside of their political parody success over the last few months.  But in all of this, there’s one familiar face who’s been missing which has gotten some fans concerned.  The boyish faced, hilarious cast member Pete Davidson hasn’t been on the show in what feels like a very long time.  It turns out that Davidson has been in fact absent and it’s because he’s been working on substance abuse issues.   Davidson took to social media recently to let his fans know he’s OK.  In fact he’s more than OK.  He’s sober and happy for the first time in 8 years.  Here’s the statement he made to fans:

“Just wanted to let you guys know I’m okay. I know I’ve kinda been missing, on social media and on the show. I quit drugs and am happy and sober for the first time in 8 years. It wasn’t easy, but I got a great girl, great friends and I consider myself a lucky man. I’ll always be here for you guys, I promise. Remember to never give up hope because sometimes that’s all we got. We are a family and I appreciate all your love and support. It’s nice to be back in action”

Davidson is one of the funniest members of the cast.  His star rose a little brighter after making fun of his own father who died in 9/11 and he took that controversial “routine” all the way to roasting Justin Bieber on Comedy Central.  Davidson’s got potential just like an Adam Sandler, Jimmy Fallon, Andy Samberg, and plenty of others who have graced SNL.  It’s nice to know that Davidson is trying to avoid the paths of other famous alums like John Belushi and Chris Farley.   We sincerely hope that Davidson sticks around and continues to make us laugh.  Here’s to one day at a time Pete.
