You knew that after Trump and the GOP’s Health Care bill collapse that the late night shows would go right after the news. It was no surprise to see Seth Meyers and his “A Closer Look” segment go into a full on analysis about what happened. Meyers examined the defeat on Monday night calling the plan “A big con.” Meyers went into detail about bill’s failure to pass and eventual withdrawal of the proposal by speaker Paul Ryan (through a direct order from Trump).
“They campaigned on this for seven years, ran on it in four consecutive national elections and voted on it more than 60 times in Congress,” he explains. “And now, it turns out that was all just one big con, calling into question whether the Republican Party is even a serious governing party capable of getting things done.”
Meyers was also quick to point out the timeline with which the new plan was supposed to be implemented. President Trump insists that he “never” said that Obamacare would be replaced within 64 days. Meyers reminded the audience that Trump said it would be in ONE day.
