It’s another day at the office for Team Scorpion when Agent Gallo came into the garage saying that NASA has some technical issues with their secret rocket launching plans in this week’s episode of Scorpion.
Captain Ryan Jackson called in after Agent Gallo debriefed the team and requested that they to head to the Hoffman Air Base to fix the technical difficulty before the rocket launches and when Happy, Sylvester and Agent Gallo arrived, they were surprised to see former Homeland Director Merrick greeting them in the control room.
I was intrigued that Walter would consider giving dating a shot after his near disastrous performance at the speed dating event, but Toby is guiding him via earpiece so it should be fine right? Nope. The genius ordered an appetizer that contained corn, which was something that Linda, his date, was allergic to. Should have done your research, Walter. Ironic isn’t it?
I inwardly cringed when Walter’s scheduled follow-up texts appeared on Linda’s phone. I breathed a sigh of relief when Paige tried to douse the fire before it started, but the flames erupted anyway when Linda demanded to see her phone. Walter, never do that again. Ever.
I’m also touched by Sylvester wanting to earn enough money by auditioning for Jeopardy! , and later, The Price is Right , to give to the hospital to name the pediatric ward after Megan since they spent quite a lot of time there looking at the newborn babies. Here’s hoping he can get the money together! Go Sylvester, go!
Bringing things back to the case, Linda showed up at the garage the next morning, pale as a ghost, and is asking for Walter. When the genius appeared, the scared out of her wits woman handed him a flash drive. A distorted voice then played on the computer screen, saying that the rocket launch is to be sabotaged or Linda will be blown to smithereens. Seeing that there’s no choice in the matter, Walter decided to sabotage the launch.
Things seem to be going according to plan when Happy succeeded in tampering with the fuel tanks, but after seeing that there are going to be astronauts boarding the rocket, things just went from good to really bad. I was beyond shocked to learn that Merrick was the person responsible for putting the bomb vest on Linda and the one who wanted the rocket launch to be sabotaged.
Turns out that the ex-Homeland Director was on Beijing’s payroll and when he was relieved of his Homeland duties, he had to pay his debt back in other ways. That’s what you get for selling your soul to the Devil, or in this case, really scary Asians. It was unfortunate that Merrick fell to his death at the launch pad after a scuffle with Agent Gallo, but I had a feeling that his Chinese bosses would go after him anyway given that the rocket launch went without a hitch after Happy remedied the diluted fuel situation.
In the end, Walter was able to save Linda from getting blown up and the two came to terms with the fact that they will never go past the first date which, though sad, is also good because then Walter can get together with Paige. That is, if he ever comes to his senses.
