Friends should always look out for one another. It doesn’t matter if you have friends in real life or Cyberspace. In this week’s episode of Scorpion, Happy does whatever it takes to ensure her friend’s safety and well-being. There’s just one problem, Happy’s new friend lives in a giant bubble. Though technically it’s more of a bubble room than a round bubble.
I’m glad that Happy is making emotional connections with other people in this episode. She got Ada to calm down as the rest of Team Scorpion plays Debris Jenga. The mechanical prodigy continued to keep her new friend calm when the latter is sitting in a barrel of honey. I hope that Walter can find Ada a bone marrow match soon so Happy can invite her to the Quintis wedding. Maybe she can be the Maid of Honor?
Walter is also making progress in the emotions department. Paige is upset about Tim accepting an eight-month contract for his new job in Jordan. The genius then gave the liaison the space she needs to process everything. I had a feeling that the whole Paige/Tim hook-up is going to go Splitsville. Tim is staying in Jordan for the foreseeable future, thus creating a long-distance relationship for him and Paige. I agreed with Toby when he told Walter that long-distance relationships never work out. Though with the break-up of Taige (or whatever ship name you want to call them) Waige can get back on track, full steam ahead! Well, after this Tim thing blows over and all the wounds have healed, of course.
The most heartbreaking moments in this episode were the anguish that David, Ada’s father, felt as he watched his little girl live each day trapped in the bubble room. She doesn’t get the chance to be an average girl, doing all the things that a typical girl does like attending a school dance. That and Agent Gallo’s relationship with Allie coming to an end. The latter told the Homeland agent that she was the one who posted the GIF meme of Sylvester wiping his hand after shaking the hand of a veteran at the election brunch. My heart went out to Agent Gallo, but I also applaud him for putting Scorpion first. The team is like family to him, and nobody messes with Agent Cabe Gallo’s family!
Speaking of Sylvester, the human calculator lost the war, but he won the battle. It turns out that the comic book store used to be a grocery store. This makes the building 90 years old according to the veteran that he and Agent Gallo apologized to. I had a feeling of deja-vu when Sylvester said that he’s going to file papers to keep the comic book store from being demolished. It reminded me of that episode of Lucifer when Detective Decker used Lucifer’s little history lesson to make LUX a historical site.
The episode ended on an amusing note as the team used virtual reality software to host an impromptu Winter Formal for Ada. Toby had to wear long purple gloves as he danced with Sylvester as if Ada herself is wearing her purple gown. I can’t remember the last time that I laughed this hard. Thanks, Scorpion writers!
