Turning the other cheek sounds noble, but we’ve surely all felt the itch to hit back at least once after someone’s wronged us. Letting it go might be the mature choice, sure, but it rarely satisfies that almost primal urge for payback in the heat of the moment. As psychologist Bernard Golden, Ph.D., explained in an article for Psychology Today, “Revenge is personal, powerfully driven by emotion.”
We might know that getting even isn’t the answer, but that doesn’t always make the temptation any easier to resist. Sometimes the high road just feels too steep. Or, as one of the Redditors in this list puts it, “Some days you need a win, and the only way to get there is being petty.” From clever payback to gloriously petty acts of revenge, these stories showcase the little wins people claimed after deciding they’d simply had enough.
#1 I Studied Twice As Hard Because I Didn’t Like A Girl In My Class, Out Of Pure, Petty Revenge
I (17F) have been new to this high school since last year and it’s been pretty great, the teachers are kind and are clear at explaining, while the students are also pretty nice, except for this girl, whom I find absolutely insufferable.
Fortunately, she’s changed classes this year, which is great, and I’ll tell you why:
She was kind of a pick me, always trying to get the attention of the boys in our class by making 67 and Epst3in jokes (like the babies thing being joked about so casually) and so on, which made it hard for me to focus in class, since she sat right behind me. It’s important to keep in mind that I’m autistic with ADHD, so it did annoy me even more to hear her nagging.
She had the highest grades in our class, which genuinely made me think “if a girl, who thinks these types of jokes are actually funny, can get grades this high, maybe I’ve got a shot” and it actually worked, even though I wasn’t used to studying, especially not this much. I wish I was making this up, but I actually studied 14 hours straight once and didn’t even shower because It was very late, once I was done.
Long story short, we ended up being the very few to have A+ for the biology, Italian and English literature exams.
I will continue to study hard, even if it’s not because of this girl, but because the teachers have a lot of trust in me and want to make sure I take full advantage of the support I receive, and to enjoy these last two years, before I eventually graduate.

#2 Cars Coming Out (Of The Closet)
I live in a block of flats opposite a hospital. Our car park gate has been broken for years and a handful of hospital staff have started parking in resident’s spaces and being snooty when challenged. The residents have had enough of the audacity and entitlement; we’ve written to the hospital, put notes on people’s cars and getting the cars towed would be illegal here in the UK
A few months ago I went to a pride event and saw a heap of rainbow bumper stickers reduced to clear with the slogan “I’m so gay I can’t even drive straight”. So I bought the lot and messaged the other residents, asking me to tell them if there was a car parked in their space that wanted a glow up.
I’ve put three of these fabulously gay bumper stickers on cars so far, Bonus points if they reverse into the space and might not see it immediately.
It’s dumb, it’s petty, but it makes the neighbours laugh, and the guy who got the latest one just contacted the guy who’s space he parked in to say he won’t do it again.

#3 Fire Me? You’ll Never Get To Lock Your Office
This happened a couple of years ago, but I was reminded of it recently. I worked a job at a really tiny company with a boss who was nice to your face, but completely incompetent. To the point that he literally said “that’s not my job” about running a register that had probably been there as long as he had that he had no idea how to use. When I first started, he had recently moved into his office, which hadn’t been used in a while, and mentioned that he hadn’t found the keys for it yet. Well, this job involved me sitting around by myself for literally hours alone waiting for customers. In the back office, there was a huge basket of random keys that I started going through one day to find what they went to. Not all were successful, but I remembered my boss’s lament and decided to try the unknown keys on his door. Lo and behold, I found a match. Unfortunately for him, I pretty much only worked on Sundays and never saw him in person, so I put the key on an empty keychain I found laying around and stuck it in the back office desk. A couple weeks later, I was fired without notice and without a reason given (technically I was still on probation). I never told my boss I found a key to his office, and to my knowledge he still doesn’t know that said key is sitting maybe 50 feet away from the door. I can only hope that he never finds it.
EDIT: I had been planning of telling my boss about this key before I left and hadn’t had the chance to. I actually really liked this job, but the manager in question was bad enough that I had been thinking about quitting anyway. I have a much better job now. The field I work in is really small and local and I had a friend recently quit their job at this same place explicitly because this guy was so bad at his job. I don’t think about it much, but it made me chuckle knowing that the solution to a minor inconvenience he mentioned is sitting so close and yet so far. Also, I was fired via email on my day off not by my boss, but by a random person in HR I never met before. I called my boss to try to get feedback and arrange a time to turn in the keys I did have, and I got the most corporate generic answer via email. I had every intention of telling him about it before I left and had the chance to, but didn’t.

#4 Won’t Stop Texting Me Weird Stuff? Okay. I’ll Match Your Energy
Some context: I (23/f) stopped believing in the same religion as most of my family. It was a gradual change for me, but it was a drastic change for them. It lead to a lot of arguments and they forced me to defend my own beliefs. Things calmed down are (mostly) okay. Except for my sister.
She had a group of people that she would text with Bible verses, daily prayers, etc. I had asked her multiple times to stop, she always said she would, but never did. I had just gotten off the phone with our dad and a particularly heated argument. Then she texted me with a Bible verse. I couldn’t yell at her because my anger was directed at our dad, and that wouldn’t be fair.
But I was still pissed that she constantly crossed my clear boundaries about this. So I googled a quote from the Satanic Bible. Something about how people have started to idolize TV or something like that. She LOVED it, and even asked where I got it from. I told her the truth, the Satanic Bible.
She was NOT happy. Started going on about how I was spreading word for the enemy. That I put my soul at risk. That it was blasphemy. But you know what suddenly stopped? Those texts from her.
Edit to add because the comments are unlocking more of this memory: I was living on the opposite side of the country at the time so I didn’t get to see the fallout. Apparently her reaction was A LOT. It caused her some serious mental and emotional strain. Our mom had to get involved to calm her down. While crying to our mom is typical of her, her actually NEEDING the support was shocking. So when my mom called me, I knew it was bad. She told me to stop sending the texts. I told her it was the once, and that my sister needed to stop. My mom said my stunt guaranteed they would. That my sister was blaming herself for me following Satan. I don’t wanna go into more detail because I don’t wanna expose her mental breakdown online.
Mission accomplished. Maybe over accomplished?

#5 Disturb My Sleep? No Problem, Let ‘Er Rip!
Back in my uni days, I lived with two friends and one did a foreign exchange semester, so she sublet her room for half a year and this young policeman in training rented her room. Not only was he a bit of a pig (go figure), but he also loved to play his music pretty loudly at night.
Talking to him didn’t help, the landlord would have said that a sublet is the original tenant’s problem, and the original tenant was two countries away. I didn’t want to move out over this because I knew I would be suffering for only a few more months. Yeah and I hope nobody asks why I didn’t call the police for disturbance of peace on him.
So after another time of him blasting music after 23:00, me asking him to cut it out or wear headphones as I had class at 08:00, and him making a joke that uni students should be partying more and whining less (and then slamming the door with no change in music volume), I had enough. I lay in bed fuming, scrolled revenge stories on my laptop and brainstormed.
The next day, I went out and bought a seamripper. Did I destroy his whole wardrobe? Of course not, that’s against the law! But he may have started wondering about the bad quality of his clothes. Especially if he did laundry and hung it out to dry after a nice, long night of listening to his music, it must have seemed weirdly prone to gradually splitting along the seams.

#6 I Took Your Shoe, Crazy Lady
Some years ago my wife and I were out for a beer minding our own business when this obnoxious drunk woman starts chatting us up. When I say obnoxious I mean obnoxious. She’s loud, she’s offensive, she’s rude, she’s just… really unpleasant.
Right off the bat it becomes pretty clear she is trying to stiff us – she is ordering A LOT of drinks but she’s been making the rounds through the bar like some very cheap, offensive parasite and somehow moves to the next table of victims every time the bill comes. And the whole bar is trying to get rid of her and failing.
We are at this time having some issues with our kid, we are very stressed and worried, and we just want some 1:1 time to talk it out, so we politely ask her for privacy. She gets more invasive and obnoxious. Eventually I ask her more directly to leave us alone and she becomes incredibly rude. She calls me a slur (I won’t repeat it) and that’s when I’m finally at the end of my patience.
Now, this woman had a sprained ankle or something and had kicked off her shoes while making herself comfortable at our table. My wife meets my eye and surreptitiously hands me something. I realise it’s this horrible woman’s shoe. So I wrap it in my jacket and shove it in my bag.
I will forever treasure the memory of this terrible cow hobbling around the bar in one shoe, screaming at everyone that these are her favourite shoes and it has to be somewhere.
The bar, collectively: “Dunno, guess you moved around a lot”
She eventually walked home in her one shoe. I kept her other shoe until I moved house two years later. Inside it, I wrote her name and a message:
“Be nicer.”
When I left the area, I dropped it at the bar entrance. She had told us at the time she was a regular, so who knows, maybe the message found her.
It probably didn’t, but I couldn’t care less. If you’re reading this, crazy lady, I took your shoe and I have zero regrets.
Next time, maybe think about that before you yell hate speech across a packed bar.

#7 I Stole All Of My Ex Bosses Employees As Petty Revenge
(Disclaimer, this is my daughters story, she doesn’t use Reddit enough so I’m posting it for her in her own words)
so i (22F) got into the piercing/tattoo industry at 20. the shop i apprenticed at is also the same one im getting my petty revenge on. my old boss ill call her bjm is the world hugest control freak. i took on a year contract to work there because i genuinely just wanted my foot in the industry. all my coworkers and my mentor were absolutely lovely people. except bjm she is ALWAYS watching even when she’s not there. the shop got a message one minute ago and we haven’t responded yet?? she’s texting me to stop being lazy. i’m sitting on the couch? she will text me to get off my chair and do something productive.
the thing about working as a piercer, i don’t get paid hourly. my clients pay me and i pay her a percentage of that for the ability to utilize the space. we hire front desk people for a reason but she still expects me to find busy work. she also policed what i wore, which is typical for most jobs BUT THIS IS A TATTOO SHOP FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. examples being women can’t wear shorts that are too short, tank tops, or have cleavage showing. did i mention this is somewhere very hot iykyk and that’s just typical casual wear for literally anyone. i can go on and on about how terrible she treats everyone who works at the shop but ill leave it at that.
so my contract ends and i find a new shop and i tell bjm exactly why im leaving. this new shop is great im not being micromanaged, but the downside is im not busy at allllll there. so i quit that shop as well. i had a surgery scheduled and id need about a month off working all together and i was like yknow what i miss my coworkers at the og shop. maybe ill give it a chance and she agrees to hire me back. when im supposed to start again she basically says yea nvm you cant come back.
so now im jobless and i go to a few shops and eventually find the one im working at. absolutely blessing in disguise i love it here, im busy everyone is chill. this is where my petty revenge comes in. all my coworkers at the og shop tell me how bad it is over there and they want out. i’m like welllll actually we have some openings for some tattoo artists. they come in my new boss and them hit it off extremely well and they are going to be working with me now:)
mess with me i’ll steal all ur workers mwah. part of me just sits there and thinks about how absolutely fuming she is and it heals a part of my little dark soul. also side note she hasn’t been able to find a new piercer in the entire year ive been gone bc nobody wants to work for her.

#8 Dorm Noise
In the early 90s I was in college. I lived in an old 2 story dorm with wood floors & high ceilings. The only time loftable furniture is a good idea. It was girls only after 9pm and quiet hours started at 11pm on weekends.
We could hear the upstairs room clomping around because of the wood floors and our beds being at the ceiling. Freshman year it was fine. Sophomore year it was bad. They routinely clumped around until 1-2AM on weekends. We had a couple conversations with them about removing shoes, etc. Nothing changed.
Well one Tuesday I had an organic chemistry exam at 8:30am. They decided to learn tap dancing at midnight. Would NOT stop even after we asked them to quiet down. The RA asked them. They just wouldn’t remove their shoes.
So, I decided turnabout was fair play. This was 1991. I knew their dorm phone number. There was no caller ID. So I called them. Starting at 7:00 AM. I could hear them climb down the ladder and walk over to answer. So I hung up. Waited to hear them climb back up. Called again. Repeat. We did that on & off for about 4 days every morning. They didn’t want to miss a social call so they didn’t turn off their ringer for any extended period. We probably called them outta bed 20 times.
They finally came down to our room and we called a truce.

#9 Neighbor Won’t Curb Their Dog
My old neighbor had an odd sense or talent as you might say to always be looking up at the sky when his dog was leaving play-do around the neighborhood. The other neighbors that I knew would always talk about how he wouldn’t clean up after his dog.
One day we got a package of his left at our house and I decided to be nice and bring it over. Since I was carrying this modest size box, it had a pair of calf high uggs for his wife in them I was not paying attention to where I was walking. You know that feeling under your shoe when you step on something soft? Yeah I felt that as I was about to step off my yard and into the road.
I ring his door bell and drop off the box. He answered via his ring and asked me to come in. I walk in and he said he’s in the kitchen and I walk down his hall and put it down. We exchange some pleasantries and I turn to leave and what do I see? A track of “mud” from my sneakers across his rug and entry mat.
I said have a good one and quickly leave. On his front steps and walk is also my sneaker prints.
Next day I saw both rugs rolled up next to his trash can.

#10 I Saw My School Bully Walking Home, So I Decided To Scare Him
So, I’m not sure how exactly to start this story, I’m typing this out on 2 hours of sleep and have never written out anything like this before, so apologies if I drag it out a bit.
I’ll just talk about my school life to begin this story. I live in England, and at my secondary school, I had a few bullies, most would just make idle comments, about my glasses, my acne or how skinny I was, but their was this one bully, called Elliot. Elliot would take things too far. Unfortunately, I had quite a few classes with Elliot, he wouldn’t leave me alone, he’d constantly barrage me with comments on my appearance and wouldn’t leave me alone. The worst day I had with Elliot, is when he decided it would be funny to staple my trousers to my legs. Of course when the teacher saw, he denied all knowledge of it, and his friends backed him up, and he didn’t get in trouble.
Anyway, lets get to my revenge,
Now, you’ve read/heard how this kid treated me in school, lets get to the present year. (10 years later) So you’re probably wondering how I scared him. This all started when I went to the cinema with my friend. As we were sitting down to enjoy the movie, I looked ahead and saw someone sitting alone….It was Elliot, I assumed he was alone because he probably has problems making friends, but that’s not important. (It was a Marvel movie if anyone is interested)
So just to jump ahead, to the main part. Once the movie had finished, I said my goodbye to my friend, as we parted ways and both began our walk home. That night was very cold, and dark so I put my hoodies, hood up to keep my ears warm, which becomes essential to the story in a second. I looked ahead of me, and saw Elliot…He was walking alone. This is when I decided to scare him and get my revenge.
So it’s important to say, I’m a big dude, I’m 6’3 and had a lot of layers on that made me look very “poofy” and of course had my hood up, which in the dark hid my face. I saw that Elliot kept looking back at me, this is a dodgy area we’re walking through. I see him pick up speed, so of course, I decided to pick up speed, he continued to look back at me, so I decided to (I know this is bad) put my hand in my back pocket, to scare him. (Here comes the best part) He started to run away, So I thought, “Well I guess we’re both going for a run now” and started to chase him down this long hill. I know for a fact he lives nearby to me and thought about chasing him home for the fun of it, but I also thought, best not. So when he turned away, I jumped into some bushes to escape. Just hoping he would continue to run and not know where I was. It was a great night.
I know it won’t undo they years of bullying in school, but it definitely felt good.

#11 Refused To Prepare Us For University Exams And Ignored Our Complaints? Enjoy A Night In The Lab And A Fired Principal
Back in high school, our chemistry teacher had one main job: prepare our class for the mandatory university entrance exams. Out of nowhere, she straight up refused to teach us the required material, basically leaving our entire future in jeopardy.
We didn’t want to start a war, so we went to the school principal to report the issue. The principal couldn’t care less and completely brushed us off, doing absolutely nothing to fix the situation.
So, we decided to handle it ourselves.
During one of the next classes, the chemistry teacher walked into the prep lab room behind her desk to get some supplies. She left the key hanging right in the keyhole outside the door.
We looked at each other, realized this was our moment, and executed the plan:
Quietly locked the lab door from the outside.
Packed our bags in total silence.
Walked out of the school and went home.
Turns out, nobody noticed she was missing for the rest of the day. She ended up spending the ENTIRE NIGHT locked in that lab.
The next morning, all hell broke loose. The story blew up, the school board got involved, and the principal was immediately fired for completely losing control of the school and letting a student riot happen under her nose. As for the chemistry teacher? We got a new instructor real quick.

#12 Called Ambulance On Uninsured Maga Friend
Trail running friend only (will never hang out with him outside of this) always tossed the MAGA talking points about healthcare shouldn’t be free, etc
He’s also transitioning jobs and wanted to do a final run before his new job started
We are experienced runners, and of course, accidents happen.
While running in the backwoods/mountains of TN, he steps on a loose rock, falls, and twists his ankle badly. So bad that he couldn’t put anyway weight on it.
It was a 7ish mile trek back to the car, and it was 5ish pm. Sun sets at 7ish
We arrive at a different parking lot and I told him we need EMT. He was against it because he can’t afford the bill.
We’ll, too bad. 5 miles to the trailhead? I’m not running solo , grab the car and pick him up. Too late.
So I called EMT and they whisked him out of there, along with a $10k + hospital and EMT bill for a broken ankle

#13 Staying Between The Lines
A couple years ago after my partner and I both had hard days at work, finally got the kids bathed and in bed then collapsed on the couch. Partner asks for ice cream. I check, none in the freezer. “How bad do you want ice cream?” “Really bad”. Ok, I’m off to the store.
It’s late. There’s a few cars scattered across the lot. I pull into the closest spot… Right next to an emotional support raptor f150. The thing is like 12 feet wide, and is parked fully 2 feet over the line, pulled-through the wrong way in an angled row. I carefully pull in to the adjacent spot, exactly down the middle, leaving like 2 inches between my door and this truck’s driver side door.
I chuckle at the tomfoolery of it all, climb out the passenger side and get my ice cream, regretting that I’ll be in and out before Mr Overcompensation gets a chance to appreciate my parking prowess. But my regret was unfounded.
Lo, stalking around the back of my car to take a picture of the license plate was… Well exactly who you’re picturing. 5’5″ middle-aged man with giant biceps, a barrel belly, and legs that had never met a squat rack. “IS THIS YOU?!! WHY THE F#@K?! WHY ARE YOU PARKED LIKE THAT”
“Parked like what?” I say, admiring how precisely-centered my car is in its spot. “Between the lines?”
Shouting, he puffs out his chest and moves to block the 2″ gap between the driver sides of our vehicles. I suppose it would not occur to him that someone would be so undignified as to enter the passenger side and climb over to the driver seat, but I am exactly that undignified.
Some days you need a win, and the only way to get there is being petty. That ice cream tasted really good.

#14 Shoplifting Accusation
I’m in a small town with just three lumber yards / hardware stores. I only really shop at one, which is just a block away from me.
I’ve spent probably around 80,000 there over the years, plus at this particular point i had a 25,000 credit there so my contractors could get stuff for a reno project. I know that isn’t a big spend over 15 years, i know i am not any sort of big fish. But I’m a reliable, regular customer.
I have long hair, but older (50ish), i was dressed rough (working around the house), i was at the store to get some plumbing supplies.
I’m in the plumbing aisle, hunting for the correct metal elbow, straight, and T ends. And i notice a newer employee is like… standing DIRECTLY behind and to the side of me. So close i can hear his breath. I look at him, and he’s being a bit smug.
So i asked what’s up. He starts telling me “oh, I’m just checking nothing end up in your pockets”. I ask why on earth would i go out into the world to steal plumbing parts, and he says something about how he knows what “you guys” use to make pipes “for smoking dope”.
There are other people in the store, people i work with, my neighbors, etc. I felt gutted.
I just turned away and walked straight to the owners office, which was just around the corner. “Hey Josh, how are you today? Great. I think this guy you hired has something to tell you. Talk to him before i walk out of here and never comes back”.
I felt lucky it didn’t happen at a big chain store, any complaints i made would have been ignored. Instead, the new guy learned that some of the most beat-up, filthy customers are rich farmers or, like me, just small town, dressed down weirdos who buy everything there.
And i got to go home with 25 bucks worth of plumbing parts for free. I should have made a pipe with it.

#15 Potty Revenge
Years ago; a buddy of mine told me about when he was doing drywall work at a big housing tract project. (west coast U.S.)
There was more than one crew working there and they had different units assigned to them.
He said that he came to work one morning and found that someone had defecated in the corner of one of his units instead of using the Port-A-Potty. WTH!
He wrote it off, but then found that it continued multiple days afterward.
I don’t remember the specifics, but he knew which crew was doing it and it was malicious, so he decided to get even.
In case some of you don’t know; in the drywall trade there is a device called a “bazooka”. The operator loads it with drywall compound and tape and then runs it over joints to apply the tape and mud at the same time.
My friend went to the job site one morning; found another pile in the corner; scooped it up, and when the time was right, he went to the crew’s unit and packed it into one of their bazookas.
I can only imagine how awesome it was when the operator and crew witnessed the bazooka smearing the nasty paste on the fresh drywall.
Nobody ever confronted him, and his units were never violated again.
Cheers!

#16 Neighbours Kept Parking Outside Our House
I live with my parents in an upper middle class gated neighbourhood with a pretty strict HOA. One of the weird rules it has is cars are not allowed to be parked on the street except if someone gets a guest pass from the HOA. The point is there’s no one parked in the street.
The section of the neighbourhood I live in is a cul da sac, specifically the house on the right side before the semi circle. As a result, a lot of the guests of the two houses in the semi circle park in front of my house (as well as the house across the street but mostly my house). This would be fine if it was a few guests every now and then or during holidays. However, people have been parking in front of our house multiple times a week from before 9 am to past 7 pm. It’s a bit annoying but whatever.
When it gets to be a real pain is on Sundays. Sundays are trash days. Basically every week, I go to roll our trash cans down only to have to put our trash halfway down our part of the sidewalk since at least one person is parked there.
Today was the last straw. I was starting to take the trash can down our driveway only to see a woman getting outside of her car parked literal inches from our driveway. She says hi to another neighbour taking his trash down while walking to a house while I was standing in disbelief with my trash can. There is no other car on the street. I go inside to ask my parents where I should put the cans and my dad says I can put them in front of his car since he won’t be going out tomorrow morning.
As I wheel the trash can by the woman’s car, I get an idea. Since she thought it would be fine to park literal inches away from our driveway to the point that someone pulling out of the garage would have to be careful not to hit her, I’d thought I’d do the same to her.
I take the green waste bin (which is heavier and has branches sticking out) and put it inches away from the front of her car. Far enough that it’s not touching the car but close enough that she either has to back out or move the green waste bin. I then put the trash can a normal distance away from the green waste bin. My dad saw where I put them and said I was definitely passive-aggressive about it but he agreed with my frustration.
Maybe she and my neighbours will get the message about parking right next to our driveway and taking up all the space in front of our when they have the rest of the street to park.

#17 My Boss Annoys Me Sometimes, So I Eat His Pink Marshmallows
I just got off my shift after eating a good portion of our pink marshmallows and thought you people might like some petty revenge.
So I (21F) work at a bar/coffee shop in a golf course. It’s a pretty great job all things considered, coworkers are nice and my dad plays there every Saturday so I get to see him which is nice.
However.
Sometimes, my manager, let’s call him M, will annoy me. Nothing too bad mostly it’s his wack scheduling making my life difficult. Like putting me on for morning shifts seven days in a row after only working three a week due to uni.
Now we’re in Australia and it’s becoming summer. It’s hot as balls, we have several events making us really busy and worse my rolled ankle from like five weeks ago is fighting back and hurting me for no good reason. I’m in pain and I’m tired and sweaty.
Anywhizzle my misery aside I need an outlet to show my displeasure without it being a fireable offence. So I eat all the pink marshmallows so M can’t have any.
He often gets a hot choccy every day with two pink marshmallows. So I deplete his supply to show my discontent. Sometimes he deals wiht it and has white ones. Sometimes he’ll get a new pack open to get his pink marshamallows. Sometimes the manager in charge of ordering forgets to order marshmallows and he goes without.
I feel real vindicated those days.

#18 Park Horribly? So Will I
I am very proficient at parking my small car. I live in a condo with underground parking. My neighbor’s parking is horrible and seems to only give it one shot before calling it parked. He’ll sometimes be a couple inches from the line, or sometimes touching it. It doesn’t bother my parking process, but it annoys me when people park poorly.
So, every time I catch him near the line, I’ll park close to the line, too. Since he also backs up, if I park as close to the from the line as him, he won’t be able to get in the car without going through the passenger side.
He’ll park properly for a while, but he will slip. To my advantage, I work from home a couple days a week. If I catch him on the day before I have to WFH then my car may not move for 2 days. I think after all this, his parking has gotten consistently better, but he he’ll still park horribly on occasion.

#19 Boss Tried To Sack Me. The Opposite Happened
This happened in the early 1990s. I (23M) was a medical representative and the patch I covered used to be covered by my boss. He and I never got along and I disliked him intensely. He didn’t want to hire me but the national sales director insisted that he did so I assume his dislike stemmed from that.
This guy is also completely incompetent as a people manager. In the days he field trips with me, I learnt nothing. All I got from him was unfair criticism.
Anyway cutting to the chase: I had submitted my call reports for the week and handed them in with my colleagues on Friday afternoon before having a few beers and heading home.
My boss called me at about 6:30 pm and asked me to come in on Monday morning at 8:30 am sharp. I asked him why but he refused to expand. He asked me to cancel my Monday appointments and just to be in the office at 8:30.
Naturally I sweated all weekend wondering what the hell was going on. I rang my colleagues, all of whom I got on with very well, and none of them were asked to come in Monday. By Monday morning I was stressed to the max and very upset.
I went into his office and he asked me about a doctor meeting that I had on the Wednesday. He said to me, “I see you’ve written here that you met with Dr. R. Jenkins. Well I know Rob really well and I called him to see how your call went. He said he didn’t meet you and hadn’t seen you for about a month. Can you please explain yourself because this is a sackable offence?”
I was furious and went quiet and really cold, responding: “I did see Dr. R. Jenkins on Wednesday. But it wasn’t Rob Jenkins. It was his sister, Rachel.”
My boss flustered around a little before he said Rachel’s last name wasn’t Jenkins, it was Smith. I explained that she had gotten divorced and taken her maiden name back. Needless to say I got the day off and ended up playing golf.
About three months later we had a national sales conference. It had been a long week and everyone was absolutely exhausted. After dropping some of our colleagues off at airports, we all headed home. It was about 4:30 pm on a Friday and my boss rang me and asked me to come in along with my other colleagues for a debrief. This time we were all absolutely furious about him dragging us all back into the office late on Friday afternoon after an exhausting week.
That night I called all my colleagues individually and asked them all to call our national sales director to complain. They did and I did.
Our sales director called us each individually on Sunday night and told us that our boss had been fired and to come in on Monday morning to meet our new boss.
We all lived happily ever after. No regrets.

#20 Tired Of People Ignoring My No Soliciting Sign, So I Started Leaving One-Star Yelp Reviews
I’ve gotten increasingly frustrated with people soliciting my house for various services, especially during election season. It seems like no matter how clearly you display a “No Soliciting” sign, some people either don’t see it or simply don’t care.
My partner and I both work from home, and we have a dog, so someone ringing the doorbell is more than just a minor annoyance. It interrupts whatever we’re doing, sets the dog off, and generally disrupts our day. We even have a sign posted right by the front door, yet people will routinely walk right past it, sometimes cutting across our grass, and ring the bell anyway.
Normally, we don’t answer the door unless someone is particularly persistent. I used to just throw away whatever business cards, flyers, or other materials they left behind and move on with my day. Annoying, but whatever.
Recently, though, I decided to take a slightly different approach.
The last time someone came by to solicit business, ignored our sign, and walked across our grass, I went to the company’s Yelp page and left a one-star review. I didn’t make anything up or exaggerate what happened. I simply explained that their representative had trespassed across our lawn and ignored our clearly posted No Soliciting sign.
And honestly? I think I’m going to start doing this whenever it happens.

#21 TSA Setting Boundaries
This I watched at the airport a month or so ago.
I was going through TSA. This lane has the 4 little lanes where you put all your stuff in a bin, push it to the middle row, and then the conveyor belt automatically moves from the middle row to the back row where they roll into the scanner.
TSA is very clear that you dont walk away till your bag clears the first row and you push into the middle row – then you can go through the scanner.
(I hate these setups personally but it is what it is).
So ahead of me, a lady who worked in the airport goes through – she puts her purse and lanyard and such in a bin, and walks off through security, leaving her bag in the first slot.
The TSA agent decided to not touch that bin, nor to let anyone else touch it. So for the next 8-10 people we all used the other 3 lanes, passing our stuff on. This continued after we went through the scanner, he continued to leave it untouched.
Meanwhile the airport work lady was on the other end of security waiting for her bag, and waiting and waiting. As we went through she is starting to get agitated and trying to get attention of the TSA workers to figure out how her bag has gotten lost. Meanwhile her bag is still sitting in the first bin slot.
I dont know how long this played out, I got my bags and headed for the gate – but if nothing else this airport worker lady probably learned a lesson about how to use these lanes!

#22 You Don’t Get To Use My Email, Part N
Couple months back, someone opened a Kalshi account using my email. I know it’s one of the other people with my name because he always uses the undotted version of my Gmail account, and I never use that one.
Well, if you are going to open an account with my email, then I can reset the password for it. I did so, to a random 50-character password, because if I’m going to be a jerk about this, I’m going all in on it.
I’m guessing he didn’t think about the fact that Kalshi is required to act as a financial site, so you can’t get anything out of them unless you’re emailing from the email on your account (not happening), or logged into the app chat (not happening either now that I’ve changed the password).
And they have a pretty aggressive session termination timeout.
So it looks like he decided to try betting on something today, because in today’s mail, from Kalshi: “Hi there, click the following link to finish resetting your password”. Oh, I’ve already done that, no need to thank me. His account is very secure.
So secure he’ll never see the inside of it again.

#23 Look Down On Me, Well I’ma Clog Your Toilet
Just talked to a friend about this and felt like it was a decent story.
For context I’m Chinese American and unfortunately I lost my ability to speak and understand Cantonese. Fitting the sterotype ABC, American born Chinese (whom usually can’t speak their native tongue, among other things). In college I hung out with a good amount of Asian Americans and Asian internationals. My friend and I got invited to a house party where practically everyone was international Chinese and we were the only ABCs.
Most of the conversations were in Mandarin, my friend could understand a bit but my background isn’t from the mainland, it’s from Hong Kong where they still speak Cantonese. When people realized I couldn’t understand some started to speak Cantonese. To their surprise I couldn’t understand either. A guy made a comment saying Tian Gou. To me, I’m thinking nothing of it just a comment. My friend pulls me aside and says we should go they just called you a bad phrase. I think it’s like dog licker meaning brown noser in literal translation but really it’s banana yellow on outside and white on inside. But its two fold. Its as if you choose to forgo your Chinese roots for American culture. Thing is it’s hard to keep those roots when you’re surrounded by nothing but american people and culture with little to no other Chinese people around you.
Anyway I obviously got offended and was like f u guys. You invited us to your home as guests and only have bad things to say about me. Before we left, I was like I need to use the bathroom. Took a big nasty poo in the main floor bathroom and made sure to throw a lot of toilet paper in the toilet to clog it up. Flush and sure enough it starts clogging and overflowing. Booked it out of there after.
Edited: Talked to my friend about my post and he called me out on not explaining the phrase enough. It’s brown nosing to American culture. Being a banana and forgoing your Chinese roots to be an American. People don’t realize how difficult it is to keep those roots when you’re a minority of minorities in your area and all you can do is be exposed to American people and American culture.

#24 My Mother And I Got Some Petty Revenge On My Horrible Ex Stepdad
My mom and I both struggle with codependency and trauma, and seem to be targets for the narcissists of the world. Well, today we got some sweet revenge. He has no idea what we’re doing, but it feels pretty good to us and I have a surprise up my sleeve, too.
Anyway, I’m a 35f, and my mom is 65. My dad passed away when I was 7, and my mom panicked and married the first guy that she found to keep a roof over our heads and the bills paid. Needless to say, my childhood after that sucked majorly. I had no problems cutting him off after I reached adulthood at least.
But fast forwarding to now, they’ve finally been divorced for about a year or two. But she kept hanging out and trying to be friends. Well, today I helped her officially put the final nail in the coffin and we sent him a nice polite text saying that she doesn’t appreciate the way he treats her and that she didn’t want him contacting her anymore. Needless to say, I’ve made it much farther in my own cycle breaking journey than she has. Plus I also do creative writing on the side. And boy did it piss him off. He started ranting and raving about how dare we disrespect him and sending Happy Birthday messages, because it’s HIS BIRTHDAY! I can’t keep track of the days when I’m not working, so I had no idea. Plus I also hate the dude anyway because he’s a crappy human being, so I’m definitely not at all invested in anything about his life.
Now for the petty part:
She apparently promised him a steak dinner at some point, and today is also his birthday.
So now we’re at Texas Roadhouse getting steak dinners for ourselves and celebrating the official end of dealing with that level of toxicity. On HIS birthday. I have half a mind to send a picture to him, but I’ve blocked him long ago. But I will probably post a picture on Facebook and hashtag happy birthday. IYKYK. Because I’m sure our friends and family will get it.
But as for the surprise up my sleeve, she owes him $30. So for my final FU to him, since she doesn’t have it in her, I’m going to send it to him in the mail in the best birthday card I can find. I don’t think Ive ever been so excited to send a birthday card in my life.
So much for revenge being best served cold. This one is medium well.

#25 I Spit On My Husbands Clothes To Get Back At Him
Maybe this makes me just as bad as him, but I spit on my husbands clothes while he’s not home to get back at him. Sometimes I also dip his toothbrush in our toilet. Another time, we had a huge fight and he slammed his hands so hard onto the computer keyboard the pieces went flying and then he stormed out of the house. I purposefully broke his space bar piece in half and put it back so he would think he did it. He’s controlling and emotionally manipulative to me and I can’t escape bc I’m a foreigner in his native country and we have kids. If I try to leave he’ll fight me for custody and most likely win. So I do these things bc I can’t talk back to him or have a rational conversation where he accepts that he was at fault for anything. It’s my secret way of arguing back to him.

#26 My Neighbor Told Me To Stop Being So Cheerful, So I Got Even
My neighbor once told me I was way too cheerful in the mornings and that my good mood was annoying. So the next morning, I saw him outside looking miserable and said, “Don’t worry, I’ll be extra happy for both of us today!” Then I waved like I was running for president. He went straight back inside. I still smile and wave every morning. Apparently, happiness is my new revenge.
