There was an ongoing joke about Ron Perlman running for President of the United States amidst the political turmoil that the country has been enmeshed in, but the rumor has taken a turn. Perlman recently shared in a podcast that it’s no longer a joke and he’s taking the possibility of a presidential run seriously. Could we see another popular celebrity at the helm of our nation in the near future?
Perlman gets vocal
Ron is a serious actor and he’s gained popularity as a professional in his field, but in his personal life, the “StartUp” personality who is known to many as “Hellboy” is taking stock of the condition of the nation. He’s coming out and publicly sharing his concerns that America is heading for calamity. He’s taken to social media to discuss his views on the situation and he’s not pleased with Washington’s handling of domestic affairs. Perlman shared that he believes “we’re in a vey dangerous, very degraded moment in time where the values that everybody who came before us fought and died for are all being tromped upon.” He cites the political rationale for this travesty as being “power and greed.”
The end of days?
Perlman took a humorous approach to a run for president previously, but he’s had some time to consider the gravity of the situation. He openly shared that if the country doesn’t make some hard changes fast, “we’re in danger of ending our days.” These aren’t just words that he’s throwing around. Perlman has been thoughtful about the situation and he firmly believes that this is the seriousness and the actuality of the situation that the country is in today.
Where he’s at today
Perlman really had no intention of running for president when he began making humorous comments about it, but with each day that passes, he’s feeling more angered and passionate about the need to fix what is broken in our system. He understands that now is the time for both famous and average people to take a stand for what they believe in to get the country back on track and to preserve democracy. These are bold statements and Perlman gets a daily shove in the direction that is beckoning for him to take actions beyond mere words.
Ron Perlman has moved on from the successful “Hellboy” films that has made a good run but is finished. He is now focusing on “StartUp,” which he’s producing and his newly formed production company is taking off. They’ve completed seven films in a three year period which isn’t bad. He is staying busy in his chosen profession, but it looks like his focus may be starting to drift in the direction of the political arena. Are these just words or will we see Ron Perlman throw his hat into the ring for the 2020 election? He hasn’t come right out and made a declaration yet, but he is moving in that direction. Perlman’s given us some strong indicators that it’s a topic that is on his mind. Stay tuned for more as the story unfolds.
